Just in Time!

This is the first sock I have done for Sockamania, and it was the middle of the month before I remembered to get the pattern. I hope it is okay to change a few things with the pattern. I didn't want the I-cord or the stripes. Instead I made a rolled hem cuff adding clear beads every 3 stitches while hemming the cuff. You can't see them in the picture. I also used a standard heel, since I didn't have time to try and figure out how to do the afterthought heel. The first sock was a little loose, but the second sock fit perfectly. It must have been the stress of trying to finish in time that made me knit tighter. :~}

Aprils Spring Fling socks

Oef, finally I've found my camera!

These socks are made with the cotton leftovers of my March-socks and some wool that's been waiting for a while to be used.

I don't have an I-Cord, so I knitted the string together with the curling board.

I love the spiral inserted heel! Unfortunatly, these socks are knitted with a 2.5mm, so I had to adjust the rounds. It's not really a spiral now, more like a point sticking up, but... last week I've been shopping for 3mm yarn.

Spring Fling Socks

                                                         

I loved working on these; they will be my golf socks this summer.  The inserted heel was easier than I thought it would be.  I guess the explanation I read online a couple of months ago was not written very well, because I found it to be very easy here.  Thanks again, these are very cute.

Pattern gone allready?

After a very busy 2 months I thought I would start on the Spring Fling, but the pattern isn't on Google groups anymore. Has it been taken of early or am I just to late?

Spring Fling socks :)

I've never knitted anklets before, but I guess they'll become handy when summer arrives ;) The yarn is made of corn (and a part nylon). It's not the best yarn I've knitted with, but the socks turned out very soft.
Pattern: Spring Fling socks.
Yarn: 51 g Maizy #1005. Seems like I have enough for another pair.
Needles: 2,5 mm.

Spring Fling

I finished my first pair of socks for the blog! Yay me! :) I would have finished earlier but I had a few yarn issues. I picked a lovely self-striping in bright crayon colors and paired it with black; it was sort of interesting but the stitch pattern got lost in the drastic color changes. I switched to a spring colored self striping and liked it much better... only thing is, I didn't have anything to pair it with so I just knit the socks without adding in the second yarn. I decided to go with a rolled cuff instead of the i-cord and I really love how it looks. The spiral afterthought heel was a blast once I got over my fear of unraveling the waste yarn. I haven't used a waste yarn that requires picking up both sides; once I figured out how to follow the yarn through the stitches, it was easy. Thanks for a great pattern and for allowing me to join in the fun. :)

My Spring Fling

Made in Qualitas sockyarn. I only used 60 stiches for my socks and te ribbed cuff. Very nice pattern. The heel was new to me, but fun to do.

April Spring Fling

Unknown varigated yarn that my neighbor gave me. Beige yarn I purchased on a cone from WEB at the Stitches West convention. US2 needles.

I took this pattern with me on a road trip. With no internet access, I wasn't able to get more information on how to do the afterthought heel so I continued on with favorite eye of partridge heel. I'm not usually comfortable working with multiple yarns so this was a nice easy push out of my comfort zone.

Alternating yarn really hid the ugly pooling of the varigated yarn. I would do this pattern again with a varigated contrasting yarn.

...spring fling...

They've been done a while...but they are probably my least favourite pair of Sockamania socks so far...
But I decided to finish them, and my youngest are using them as bed socks.
I wan't sure how much yarn I had- this is only leftovers- so for a change (willingly!!!! Deliberately!!!)I knit them toe-up! The pattern twists in a strange way. But I love the heel:-) It's donee like the pattern said. I also did an i-cord bind off on top,to get the ties. ...still some neds to weave in...

Now looking forward to May's challenge!

Spring Fling - 10 Days

Just a reminder that there are only 10 days left in April and 10 days left to post your completed Spring Fling socks.
Tama's pattern calls for a tie at the ankle, but if you prefer, a ribbing can be knit in place of the tie. No matter which way you choose, this is a fun and easy pattern. Once you make one pair, I am sure you will want to make another. This is a great short sock pattern, perfect for the warmer weather.

I also opted for a ribbed cuff. My oldest daughter saw that they were anklets and decided she wanted them. The pattern was very easy to memorize and I loved how they turned out. Disappointed that they wont be in my sock drawer. LOL Thanks for the wonderful pattern.

Once I started knitting this pattern I couldn't stop. I chose to eliminate the tie and go with a ribbed cuff. I also used Cascade Fixation, which required a bit of reconfiguring of the pattern.

That seems to be the story of my life. Always a bit late.

These were knit from Debbie Macomber yarn. Band is at home so I don't remember the colorway, but it is a green mix.

Lovely pattern. These are destined for a friend's feet.


The little quilts under the socks are pet quilts. A lady makes them the Humane Society as a fund raiser here in town and we sell them in our pet bakery for her. She has brought some really lovely ones in.

It's a Spring Fling for April!

These socks are all about Spring! Bright colors and a lacey design. I used leftover amounts of sock yarn, something I am sure we all have plenty of in our stashes, to create this little burst of sunshine. (Which, since we got a foot and a half of snow since yesterday, I could use a little of right now!)


You don't really have to have an I-cord maker for these cute socks, but if you have one it will make the tie much faster. I put in an inserted spiral heel, but a regular inserted heel or short row heel would also work just as well.

Wearing some more green

Phew! I made it. Here are my Wearin' o Green. This was some green yarn I had laying around the house, so it knit it up. I enjoyed the pattern and will probably give it another go in the future. Thanks for the pattern!

Wearin' o the Wild

I had green yarn in my hand at the yarn store, but spotted this one. The green was boring in comparison. The yarn is Cascade Fixation, cotton and elastic, for summer socks. It's thicker than fingering, and even on #2 needles, they were coming out way too big. I asked my husband if he would wear them and he gave me "that look." So I frogged the 4inches I had knit and started over on 56 stitches. They are a perfect fit for me. Two at a time, toe up. of course. Picot bind off instead of the eyelet picots.

Wearin O' the Orange

Finished and again for a little girl in Romania. These are all left overs I hoped to knit them with two colors but I had to add an other orange/salmon. Now it will become a bit quite from my side, I want to knit some cardigans for myself and in August my son and wife expect a little one again and they want some knitted baby-stuff.

Yes, finally, my socks are done. The pattern was great and they fit perfect. Thanks again for the neat pattern. I will enjoy making more pairs with it

Wearing o' the green

I finished my socks a week ago but got too busy to post them. I loved the pattern. I also like the yarn: KnitPicks Gloss in the jade color. We had 7 inches of snow in 2 hours last night here in Colorado. So having a pair of warm socks is paramount! My husband showed me that he was wearing a pair of socks I knitted for him (a Sockamania pattern) and said they were WARM!

By the way, your lace scarf is beautiful. How many have you knitted? (I read on your blog.)

Sweden socks for march...

Here are my socks...
The sun and the shadow was very nice this day but not so nice to see the pattern on the socks...:o)
But because we have had a real snowy winter here in sweden I take every chans I have to love the sun...
The model is my daughter Mia, and shes not found of being photographed...

actually, isn't the first correct? if you do it 16 times more after the initial time you would end up with 34 stitches, or am I thinking wrong?

Wearin' O the Greenblue-ish

Hello everyone,

My first pair of socks from Sockamania is done. A great challenge, because this was the first time I followed a pattern in English...
I used a coton with the green and blue stripes for knitting this great pattern.

I also managed to change the pattern without knowing it myself, till I saw the first pictures on the weblog: I used the instep chart for the whole sock. But to make it up, I knitted one block on the both sides.

Hopefully it will do for this month...

My son (2.5 years old) loved showing them!


And now, I'm looking forward to april the first. Maybe that pair of socks will be for me, if I can hide them from my daughter.

Octobers pattern Autumn Leaves

Autumn Leaves became........... Spring Leaves

in color and season. The yarn is

Fabel from Drops. The colors are more brighter than on the pictures. I started the second sock halfway the pattern so they're in a sort of mirror image.

Wearin' o' the Green

I finished my lovely socks in time to wear them for St. Paddy's Day tomorrow. I'm sorry the pictures came out a little bright, so it's difficult to see the pattern well. These were an absolute pleasure to knit. I used one of Tama's sock pairs called...wait for it...Wearin' o' the Green :-) Thank you so much for another beautiful pattern. I also knit these on #1's, because I have little feet.

The pattern for march socks has disappeared and instead I have an unreadable mess in the Sockamania Group. Lots of strange signs. Dated 8 March.
What has happened??
I want a new copy of the pattern as I wrote lots of notes(as I knitted) on my copy.

Wearin' O the Greenish!

Here they are! One week, start to finish, but it was Spring Break for us. I loved the pattern and will probably make another pair soon, since my daughter has already spoken for these.
