The perfect pattern

for the Fleece Artist Sea Wool sock yarn I had in stash from my birthday in July (colourway Marine). As soon as I had the pattern e-mail on Friday, I cast on straight away. I've now almost finished the first sock, it's such a quick and easy pattern but very effective.

I hope you don't mind Anni but I'm knitting these toe up - I've been addicted ever since I knitted your Falling in Love socks in February. The only other change I made was to start the pattern on row 5 so I didn't have a purl ridge over my toes. I'm using 2 x 2.75 mm Inox Grey circs.

november sock pattern

i love the new pattern for november. i hope with all the holidays i still have time to do this one. i am unable to post a picture of finished socks but can at least describe the finish product. i love all the pictures everyone else has posted of last months sock.

Ripples in progress...

What a simple but effective pattern! I just cast on this morning and things are clicking along nicely. Yarn is Cervinia Calzetteria in #907. These will be for me :) Wheee! Love your patterns, Anni!

Woo-hoo! Finished on time (sort of!)

Yay! I finally finished a pair of socks before the deadline--although in this case, only because of the extended deadline. :-) Still, I'm proud of making *SOME* kind of deadline. Here they are:
100_1715

Yarn is Posh Lucia, in the sock club colourway from June (I think everyone received a unique colour in June, so I don't know what the name would be). Lovely and soft and I think my stepmother will love them. For once, I made basically no modifications to the pattern, except I went down to 13 sts on each needle for the toe. But I really enjoyed knitting these, and found them very speedy. The cable is a *bit* tight, but I think it will fit the intended recipient well!

My camera is sick

I finished the October sock pattern, top down, but unfortunately my digital camera suffered an injury and is now resting. I am planning on doing a few more pairs before the holidays, in autumn and winter colourways. I really like Ripples, it may be my Amazing Lace while I am watching The Amazing Race.

November Ripples in Progress

Inclement weather yesterday gave me the opportunity to cast on and begin the November Ripples sock. This is a wonderfully easy pattern, works up quickly and easy to memorize. I chose to add 10 rows of k1, p1 at the cuff, then eliminated one set of pattern at the end of the ankle. I am using Trekking XXL yarn in shades of light yellows, tans and oranges.

hi everyone

hi everyone,

i've been a member for a few months, lurking quietly, but i don't want to get booted for not being a good joiner in the convos, so here i am. iris. from new york. it's my busy season with work, i'm a lumberjack (i make firewood) so i am painfully behind with finishing all my socks. unfortunately, not with starting them . luckily, i compulsively buy sock needles (along with the yarn and pattern addiction) so i'm okay with 9 socks on the needles. hopefully i'll have a camera this x-mas and will be able to finally post photos so i can have my own blog (who wants to read a blog with no pictures?) and a ravelry account that is more than just a name. and of course, show you guys what i'm up to, since i love seeing what you are all knitting.

happy to be here and thanks anni, for creating such gorgeous patterns.

Another New Member

Just a quick intro. I recently joined and opened this months pattern after getting back in town. I like the Ripples pattern! I always have a pair of socks going but I didn't knit any socks last month. The break was good but I'm ready to start a pair now. My knitting blog is at http://www.doctordirt.com/blog .

Elegance Errata

I've been busy, working on my Elegance socks from the toe up. Last night, as I was knitting the heel, I noticed an errata in the pattern. You might want to change your patterns for future use.

The pattern reads:
WS - sl1, p5, (k3, p6) x2, p3, k5, p2tog, turn
RS - sl1, k5, (p3, k6) x2, k3, p5, ssk, turn

It should read:
WS - sl1, p5, (k3, p6) x2, k3, p5, p2tog, turn
RS - sl1, k5, (p3, k6) x 2, p3, k5, ssk, turn

I got a late start, but I'm still plugging along, hoping to have these finished before the deadline.
BTW, come by and say hello to me at Ravelry, where I'm known as 2sticks.

New to Sockamania too!

This is my first pattern to knit. It is beautiful. I have some "Tidepool" by KnitPicks that match up nicely with these Ripples!

Summer Socks!

Ripple is a great name for this sock. It reminds me of ripple icecream and as we are coming into summer here in Australia I think I will try knitting it in cotton. Can't wait to get started. Thank you for a great pattern.

Newbie...

Here but not as a knitter. Started to knit 25 year ago....... just love it!
I got the new pattern today and yes........ already casted on!
I have done the first repeat of 7. I like it very much.
I´m using a blue Opal-yarn I had in my stash.

Not Quite the Newbie

Hi All,
I asked to join the Sockamania KAL a few, ahem months ago but due interviewing and then accepting a new job, um, yeah, most of my knitting went by the wayside.

This month, however, my mom is craving socks (she lives in Los Angeles, CA, USA so nice thick woolly things are quite out) but the pattern for November may just fit the bill perfectly!

I've cast on using Panda Cotton--first time user, and though I know I'll not make the deadline (I am the slowest knitter in the multi-verse) I'm so jazzed to at least be a part of this KAL in spirit :).

And here's the pitch to come visit my blog page:
http://www.tactlesswonder.blogspot.com

And away we go....

October Elegance

Well finally finished them. Lovely pattern which I will use again. Knitted in King Cole Merino Blend 4ply. Love the red because it makes the cables look like hearts! Difficult to photograph red wool though as the pattern is difficult to make out. Sorry about the rubbish home made coathanger blockers - it's my birthday this month and have been dropping enormous hints about sock blockers for weeks now!

November

Another fabulous pattern!!! I'm just hoping I can squeeze it in with all my holiday knitting! Maybe for Christmas I should ask for another set of hands!

P-la

November pattern

November's pattern has now been sent out and I'm crossing everything I've got that there won't be the same problems i had last month. As I mentioned in your e-mails there are some changes happening to Sockamania at the moment. Mainly that I'm taking on some more Admin ladies to help me out. I'll announce who they are in a few days. There is a new e-mail address too (sockamania@hotmail.co.uk). Please use this one for your queries.

Any questions about the patterns please ask on the blog as there may be others who can give you the answer before I get itme to reply and others may have wondering about the same thing. Any errors please e-mail me. The pattern has been test knitted so I'm hoping it'll be error free but sometimes typost sneak in.

Don't forget you've got till November 10 to post picsof finished October socks.

Happy knitting everyone,

Anni
Hello,
I'm new here, too. Just wanted to say "Hello" to everyone and thanks for letting me join.
The November pattern is really lovely and I will get started right away. I just can't decide which yarn to use out of my stash.
Thanks Anni for the super pattern.

Lots of fun knitting the November pattern,
Anja :-)

Another hello!

Hi everybody,

thought I should say 'hi' here and also thank Anni for letting me join in and sending out such a beautiful pattern. Thank you so much!
I tried starting it last night but was too tired and made too many stupid mistakes. So new try today.
I'm curious to see what everybody else does with their pattern and what all the finished socks will look like.

Happy knitting to all,

quesselchen

Me too! Me Too!

I am new here and looking forward to joining the fun. I only hope I can knit fast enough.

Hello!

Hi everyone,

I'm glad to have found this group, and I'm looking forward to some crazy maniacal sock knitting. wahooooooo!!

Hello

Thank you Anni, for letting me join in the fun, can't wait to start and get to know you all
All the best Pixie

A quick hello!

Hi Anni and fellow sock addicts!

Thanks so much for including me in the group. Sock knitting is about the best thing in the world, in my opinion. Knitting along with friends and getting to show off our finished projects? Best. Thing. Ever.

Can't wait to get the next pattern and KAL with you all!

Peace,

Kim

Tunisian Elegance

These are well travelled socks! I took them on holiday to Tunisia (from UK). I made two changes to the pattern - I added 6 rows of rib at the cuff and I altered the size of the cable. I needed the larger size, but really liked the way the cable stood out on the smaller size, so I reduced the width to 6 stitches and cabled every other row. They would have been ready sooner, but I kept messing up one of the cables on the second sock! I used 2.5mm needles & Trekking XXL yarn. The stripes are more pronounced than I'd anticipated - for some reason I thought the yarn was variegated rather than striped, but I'm very pleased with the finished result.
This is my first month as a member of Sockamania and I'd like to say thank you for a beautiful pattern. I'm really looking forward to the next one.

toe-up Elegance issue

I am working the toe-up version of Elegance and was unable to complete them by the end of the month... I've still got the cuffs to knit. Anyway I did notice a typo on the heel for the toe-up pattern at the area where you re-establish the knit 6 purl 3 rib pattern. My pattern reads WS- S1, p5, (k3, p6) x2, p3, k5 and should read k3, p5 after the x2... and RS- should read p3, k5 after the x2. Did anyone else find this typo? I LOVE the heel on this sock... exactly what heel style is this?

sockamania invite

Hi Anni,

Just wanted to say hi and thanks for the invite to Sockamania. I just participated in the Hogwarts Sock Swap 2, thus the name Mafalda. I enjoy knitting socks and I am always looking for new patterns and tips.

Thank you,

Mafalda

Finally--One!

Elegance is a beautiful pattern, but I've been knitting slowly this month. Last night I finally finished my first sock. I hope I can manage to get the other one done by the extended deadline. Why the cut squash in the picture? Visit my blog to find out--yesterday's Halloween post and today's.

More Admin needed

Thank you to everyone who's e-mailed me with offers of help. I'm thrilled with your response. I've got all the volunteers I need now and those who've e-mailed me, I'll get back to you during today sometime and we'll sort out who is doing what etc. I'm having a Sockamania admin day today. Girls are out with thier grandparetns for the day (they're on halfterm holidays this week) and I've got all day to sort out Sockamania, apart from a Thanksgiving Service this afternoon for a lady in our church who passed away from cancer last week.

Patterns will be sent out this evening together with some more invites.

The popularity of this KAL has amazed me. When I started it in May I thought I might get 50 members eventually. Well, now we're about 220 members with over 30 more having asked to join for November. I enjoy doing this KAL. It's fantastic fun to see so many people knit my patterns, and it's so humbling that so many people want to join. I love it. But...., yes you knew there was a 'but' coming. It's time consuming and at the moment things are really taking off design wise and yarn dyeing wise and my time online has had to be reduced. I suffer from chronic neck/back pain which is quite severe and aggrevated by spending long periods on my laptop and there are so many things that need my attention when I have my 'computer time'.

Therefore I'm appealing for one or two volunteers to help me with the admin for this blog. You will get Admin privileges on this blog, as well as access to the Sockamania hotmail address and your job will be to help me reply to requests to join, add members to the blog/send out Blogger invites and help me add new members to the Hotmail mailing list. And when things go horribly wrong like when I sent out the October pattern, help me out by resending patterns to those who didn't get it, sort out problems, generally reply to e-mails. You won't be doing it on your own, I'll still be doing, but there are days when I don't get time to spend as much time as I need on Sockamania KAL admin stuff and I need someone else to cover for me on those days. We may set up a rota system. I'll still be responsible for the pattern designs and asking technical questions about the patterns and the Sockamania blog/KAL will remain my property/copyright.

If you fancy helping out you need lots of time(well a fair bit of time anyway) and some technical know-how (which I lack). If you already have a fairly good knowledge of Blogger and Hotmail then that'd be great.

I'd be more than happy to have a few people volunteer with responsibilities shared, ie someone could be responsible for adding new members to the blog, someone else keeping an eye on blog postings and editing the list of completed socks each month, someone dealing with technical questions etc.

If you're interested please e-mail me on stashaddicts@hotmail.co.uk to let me know how much time you could spare and which jobs you wouldn't mind doing.

Thank you very much for reading this and considering whether or not you can help out.

The November pattern is ready to go out but I've not had time yet to add new members to the blog or mailing list and after the problems of October's mailing, I'm going to have to check that everyone's actually on the mailing lists (I edited/reorganised them in time for the October mailing and I'm worried I may have 'lost' some members).

November pattern will hopefully be e-mailed out tomorrow, probably during the evening.

October Socks!

I've done it!

And on time!

The October sock pattern
In Colinette Jitterbug Florentine

The cable pattern is just barely visible, but the intended recipient loves the socks
They are for a dear friend who will be 54 next month, and has some health issues, and loves how the yarn feels, and the rib pattern that fits but doesn't bind or become too tight.

Jeanne
http://greyknitter.blogspot.com/

maybe last, but not least

My elegance socks are finally done! I really loooved the pattern (my first cable sock!), and although I do have some mistakes in the cables, they are at least symmetrical! I used the yarn from the october club package.
