This is probably the prettiest sock I've every made. I'm not usually the type of knitter to show my latest project to complete strangers, but, I must confess, a lot of people in Florida saw this sock before it showed up here!
I had every intention of having the pattern all ready to go before my husband and I left for Florida for his fifth, and hopefully final, back surgery. However, I discovered about a million errors in the pattern when I started the second sock. I was still fixing errors last night!! So, if you find something wrong, don't hesitate to let me know! It has to be the result of all the extra events that were going on last month. It's a shock to me that I was even able to get them done, let alone create the pattern for them. So if I can make them with all the stuff I had going on they must make up pretty fast!
The heart design is simple and easy to memorize. The stocking is knit toe up with a short row heel (an inserted heel works great also for all of you who enjoyed that new heel method!). The lace edging at the top is knit in short 8 row repeats and then sewn on last leaving a "hole" so that your leg fits into the sock.
I used Yarn Addict Anni's fingering (sock) weight yarn called Bambino. It is a gorgeous merino/bamboo blend yarn with just a hint of glossy shine. ***(Her web site is accessable from the side bar.)*** Go and check out all of the luscious yarns she has available!!! The double sided satin ribbon is the 5/8 inch width size.
So, the pattern will be at the Google group site in just a few minutes. Since February is a little short and this stocking is a little long I will extend the deadline to post your completed stocking to March 5th. However, March's sock pattern will still be posted March 1st and the deadline for it will be the end of the month.

Oh Good. I got a little nervous. My due date is March 5, I have my skein of yarn already wound and ready to go with me to the hospital. lol I want to make sure I can work on it while I am in the hospital.
That's perfect!! I knit while waiting to deliver my babies also! The nurses sure look at you funny though. Hope all goes well, and congratulations in advance!
To Psalm127 - I sure hope you get these done before the baby - you should always labor in beautiful socks. Let us know when the baby comes!
I was thinking the same thing as I was working on them today. I want them on when I deliever, they are so beautiful. I won't be making them that long though but long enough. :)
wow, stunning socks. Just love them. I don't think I'll have time to knit them this month but I'll definitely get them in my queue of stuff to knit, and perhaps aim to do them on holiday in Spain in August. I need some socks to knit on the beach. Gorgeous socks.
I'm not sure I'd want to wear something this pretty for labour but perhaps it would have made me feel a bit more calm and serene. Rather than agressive and stressed out. LOL. Laura, I hope you get them done in time.

Wow, what fabulous socks. I don't know that I'll knit them full length because I just don't have the legs to do them justice(and whoever is modeling the sock for us has definitely got lovely long socks legs!) but I have some of Anni's superwash merino that will look great knitted up in this pattern. I have a question about the k4tog. I find it very hard to get all four stitches into the stitch. I looked back and there was a stitch that wasn't caught. Any suggestions?
Barbara, I've heard that you can use a teeny crochet hook and pull the yarn through; but that just seemed to make it worse for me. I ended up sticking the right needle into the four stitches (as to purl) and stretching them a bit. Then there seemed to be more room to insert the needle for the k4tog. I agree it is a pita, but after trying several different ways to obtain the same stitch reduction, I decided that just doing the k4tog was probably the look that Tama was after. I keep reminding myself that it only happens every 10 rows.
Barb A. & not just a mom--I am sorry. I hate k3tog and k4tog is worse, but it gives a real nice rounded top to that heart! I did the same thing, stretching the 4 sts a little bit first. That is really the only way to make it not so difficult. It gets better after you've done it 5 or 10 times LOL!
I'm turning the heel on sock #1 and it is getting easier. Still not my favorite stitch, but it's working.
I am using the small crochet hook and it is working much better than anything else I tried.
