Cables & Lace - Didn't think it would happen

Oh, the woes of the Cables & Lace socks. I won't go into detail, but I really didn't think these would be completed (even with the deadline extension). I've been knitting feverishly for the past few days, and have discovered that if pressed, I can knit a pair of socks in a week.

I've completed (and love) all of the socks for the year and am looking forward to a dozen more in 2009! Thanks Anni, for a great group and the chance to knit all of these wonderful socks.

Anni yarn, size 2 needles.

Chilly Cables and Lace

I used from my stash for these socks, even those this pattern is more worthy of a solid color. Sorry... These socks are modeling with the 2-3 feet of snow we have gotten here in the NW this past 10 days! We are crossing our fingers to get our rain pattern back. :) Happy holidays!

Happy Christmas!

Just wanted to wish you all a Happy Christmas. We're in Norway now and there is no snow. We had an extremely busy couple of weeks before we left so so far we've just relaxed since we got here. If you wantot know more read my blog as I've just blogged about the trip here etc.

The deadline for the December draw will be 3rd January (did I remember to tell you that Barb? Barb does the list for the draw for me each month). We'll be home on 3rd January so I'll do the draw then or on the 4th. But Barb will do the final list on the 3rd. New pattern will be listed on 4th January.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and manage to fit in lots of knitting. I've taken several pairs of socks to finish, got lots of single socks waiting for a partner so took 4 of them with me. And started a new lace stole for my sister last night. Should be enough to keep me busy. Got to visit lots of yarn shops while I'm here for an article I'm doing for a knitting mag. But I can't buy anything as we were up to the limit on our luggage allowance coming here and Ryan Air are really strict and won't allow any extra.

God Jul! (which is Norwegian for Happy Christmas!).

Cables and Lace

Finished with time to spare. This was another fun pair to make. First one I messed up on the heal. Not enough coffee to figure out how to line up the cables. ha ha Ripped it back once and still didn't get it right, figured it out the next day when I was just about done with the foot. ha ha. No one should get that close to notice. They are so soft and compfy, knit with Anni's Sockamania Plus yarn. Now to work on other UFO's until January's sock comes out.

Cable & Lace Heel Flap Question...

On R1 of the heel flap, the stitches total 36, but the heel flap is to be worked on 33 stitches. Am I missing something? I am not sure where the k6 should line up- intuition tells me over a run of cable... any help, or should I go for a reinforced heel and not worry... ??? Thank you!! This is my first pair to be making along with the group. So far, really fun!

Cables & Lace

Another gorgeous pattern from Anni!

These are for my daughter for Christmas - I'm sure she's going to love them.

Yarn: Opal Trekking XXL - Cream with coloured speckles
Needles: 2 x 2.5mm circulars

I made 2 (very minor) changes - I added 5 rows of rib at the top and did a reinforced heel.

Thanks again for all your hard work.

Cables and Lace

I had a lot of fun knitting these! I used knitpicks palette in mint green. I like ribbing at the top, so added that. I also am not that fond of bulky stuff inside my shoe, so did a plain foot. Thanks Anni for another fun pattern! Hope everyone has a lovely holiday season.

Cable & Lace

Salvia US2. Down to the last view skeins of sock stash. Because of the uprupt color changes and bad pooling, I decided to knit the foot plain. On the leg where there was some solid color areas, you can see how beautiful the pattern is.
Thank you Anni for another great pattern. Looking forward to the January sock.

Knitty

So excited I just got to tell you all. I've had a pattern published on Knitty. Maja is knitted in Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend and is a quick and fun knit and fairly easy. Perfect if you fancy a break from socks. If you want to see more pics or read more about it all, see my blog.
Hope you're all finding time to knit the December socks. As we're away over Christmas and New Year I'll extend the deadline for the December draw till 4 January which is when we'll be home again. The January socks will be posted then too. If you fancy treating yourself to a sock yarn club for Christmas, sign up for Sockamania PLUS Merino Sock Club now (one month or three month memberships available). I'll be dyeing the January yarn in the next few days and posting it next week.

Happy Knitting,

Anni

November Winners

Congratulations to
Psalm127 and Nettan
The winners of the November Sock Draw. Please e-mail Anni on yarnaddict@hotmail.co.uk and let her know which yarn you'd like from Anni's Etsy shop.
Make sure you include your shipping address.

just in time

i just finished my get fruity socks in the nich of time. they turned out very nice, and thanks anni for a wonderful pattern once again. i used cherry tree hill yarn in lifes a beach. they are a gift for a dear friend.

Fruities Just in Time!

Finished these this afternoon. I did reinforced heels with gussets because i think garter stitch short row heels wear out too fast. Yarn is Knitpicks Essential in the Riverbend colorway. They were fun to knit. Thanks, Anni!

Sunday 30 November 2008

Winning yarn with a winning pattern!

Thanks Anni I love my new socks! You may not have knit this pair, but you hand dyed and created the pattern for them. Yippy! This is the Parakeet color way. I guess it is a good thing retail has cut back my hours so I have more time to knit this month. Can't wait until December's pattern!

Yummy Get Fruity

My Get Fruity socks are complete. I don't like short row heels so I did my regular toe up sock construction. Yarn used is sock yarn from Dyed In The Wool Handmade and size 2mm needles.

Get Fruity

Vinca US1. Have avoided any top up patterns because I have not had any luck with the bind off until Get Fruity. Now that I'm on the last skein of Vinca I finally found that I can tolerate the fabric on US1.
Thank Anni for another great pattern and an opportunity to learn a new bind off technique.

Get Fruity - Upside Down

When I first saw the name for these socks I thought of Froot Loops and found the fruitiest, loopiest yarn I had. It's some color of OnLine that I had in the bottom of the stash and in person they're quite frooty.

Love the pattern. Of course I did it toe up, and also changed the heel - short row heels just don't fit me well.

Thanks Anni! Can't wait for next month.

Thursday 27 November 2008

Fruity is fininshed!

I finished these last night. I really like the zigzag pattern on the back. I used two colors of the same Opal yarn. I knit cuff, heel and toe with one color, and then leg and foot with the other. I alternated the colors on the second sock.
Thanks Anni for another fun to knit sock pattern!

Fruity socks

I really liked this pattern--I am so much better at reading the chart and following it. My 6-year-old granddaughter is wearing the socks for the picture and she didn't want to take them off! She said they were very soft and comfortable. I may have trouble getting them back! I knitted them with Berroco Comfort Sock. The color is 1810--a mix of green, blue, brown and tan. I don't know why socks always look blue with my camera. The one on the right is closer to the actual color.

Thanks again for the great pattern. I wasn't sure I was going to finish with all that is going on in November. But I am grateful I wasn't moving and changing jobs like the post before me!

Have a happy Thanksgiving!

Get Fruity

Whoo Hooo I finished this month with a few days to spare. This is knit with Anni's club yarn. I have a pair of longies I need to finish along with some sewing projects. These were so fun and relaxing to make. Just what I needed right now. Thanks Anni, looking forward to seeing next months pattern and yarn.

Little Flowers--A Little Late

I realize these are quite late, but I have a good excuse. I packed up my house and family, quit my job, and moved to another state. Then I spent six weeks trying to unpack, start a new job and get over a terrible cold/sinus infection.

So, anyway, here are my "Little flowers". I used some left over yarn (Tofutsies) and created a pico edge for the cuff--one of my favorite way to create a cuff.

Thanks for the pattern Anni. Unfortunately, "Fruity" is going to be a little late. Christmas projects keep getting in the way. I am sure I have no less than 15 UFO's and 4 or 5 WIP's right now. I can't wait to feel more settled in!!

Sunday 23 November 2008

Get Fruity

Here they come, The fruity socks.
Love the pattern ,but maybe i should used another yarn.
Difficult to see the pattern in this yarn.

Saturday 22 November 2008

These are not blocked yet but I really like the way they look. Another great pattern and another gift item finished. Thank you, Anni.

Friday 14 November 2008

Ok, i´m done with the fruity...

Lovely pattern once again annie, thanks...
And here they are...

I think I maybe should have used another yarn but in the real they look lovely and the pattern show ok...
Its difficult to take pics that show pattern ok I think, it doesn´t matter if its one colour or mixed up...
How do you do to take better pics?
Do you have any tip for me?...:o)

Have a nice day//Birgitta

November pattern posted

I'm sorry I forgot it was the 1st November yesterday. We've had such abusy weekend and there's been a lot of other stuff I've had to deal with so I completely forgot yesterday but I've just posted the pattern on the Google group.

Well done to everyone whos finished October's socks. They all look fab. I've been looking at them all but not had time to post individual comments for everyone but they all look gorgeous. Just got to finish my 2nd one now.

I will do the draw for the October winners tomorrow. It's getting late now and I'm so tired, was awake more than I slept last night, and I've still got to do my online grocery shopping.

Happy knitting,

Anni

My Scroll Socks done in time

I got them done just in time this month. Love the pattern and it was fun to knit. I used Seacoast Handpainted yarn Panda, needle size US #1. Thank you Anne for a great desgn can't wait for next month.

Lovely pattern. I think I misread the pattern because my legs are too short. The yarn is what I won in July from Anni-a beautiful blue colorway.

Thanks for the beautiful yarn and pattern!

scrolls complete

Finaly I finish my socks! It was a very nice pattern to knit. Thank you!
Yarn: Trekking XXL tweed.

My Scroll Socks

Well I finally collected enough time to get a pair of socks done this month. YEAH! Moving really cuts out a huge chunk of your free (knitting)time!
I won the yarn for these socks in another KAL. It is a beautiful hand dyed bamboo/silk blend sock weight yarn. Absolutely divine to knit with! I am not a fan of lavender or yellow, but I have a person on "The Christmas List" that will be crazy about these. The pattern was great and very easy--I love really easy lace socks that look difficult to make.

Scrolls Complete

It's been a very long time since I finished a pair of club socks. Other knitting had to get done first. Here are my completed scroll socks. Yarn used is Patons Stretch Socks in the mineral colourway. I have to say that I am surprised at how much I like this yarn. I used 2mm needles and worked them from the toe up.

Thanks Anni yet again for a wonderful pattern and it feels great to be back.

Here are my scrolls socks. I dyed the yarn with Kool Aid.

Tuesday 28 October 2008

Whatever ailed me this summer, the curse is broken and Scrolls are complete. This was such a fun knit. Thank you again Anni. The yarn is Panda Silk. I loved the pattern. I think the recipient will love the socks too.

SSSSTSE

Super Scroll Socks Sent To Someone Else.

Yes I fished them!! I think I sent them monday to someone who thinks that knitters are ok but that the world can't do without sock knitters.

I thought that was a really nice thing to say.

I knitted them with Regia Color 4 fädig and I love the color.
The pattern is the other thing I really loved, can't wait for the next one.
Thanx Anni

Scrollsocks nr 2

Here comes number two of scrolls socks. I love the pattern. Thanks Annie

October is almost over

All your socks look wonderful. The farthest I have gotten with mine is I wound the club yarn into a ball. Crazy month, but I have my yarn and pattern and will knit my socks when things slow down. I hear the club yarn for November should be heading out soon and if my November isn't as crazy as October then I believe I will have Novembers done. Great Job ladies and Thank you so much Anni

Alpaca Scrolls

I finished these up 2 days ago but just got a picture of them today. They were knit in Alpaca Sox (60% alpaca, 20% merino wool, 20% nylon) colorway 1875 Pebbles. I used KP Options in size 1. Did them ML, toe up with sewn cast off. There is 3 or 4 repeats of the pattern on the leg with no ribbing. I wish I had done a bit of ribbing as they tend to want to roll. Oh, well, they are so soft that I don't really mind.

This was an easy to remember pattern and a fast knit, if I had knit on them on a regular basis. I have lost my knit all the time mojo. Hope it comes back soon.

Thanks, Anni for another great pattern.

October Scrolls Completed

Yarn: Knit One Crochet Too Ty-Dy Sock yarn.
Needles: #2 dpn for ankle, switched down to #1 for heel and foot.
Added an extra pattern on the ankle for extra length.

I waited for the perfect pattern for this yarn, and the Scrolls Socks were definitely worth the wait. Love the pattern - and they will be so wonderful to wear if it ever gets even the slightest bit chilly.

Can't wait for next months pattern. Thanks Anni!

Toe up, ML, size 1 needles.

Hi. I just finished this tonight, it's a very pretty pattern and they are going to be a belate birthday from someone in my knitting group and hope it fits her well. I enjoy knitting this while commuting to work and babysitting.

Loved This Pattern!

These socks knitted up so fast and I think they are really fun! I used the KnitPicks naturals. A friend and I had a dying adventure and this silly bubble gum pink was one of the results!

Scroll Complete

My neighbor gave me 2 skeins of Essentials in Peacock to try. Love the feel of the yarn but I don't know if I would purchase any until I get a few wears out of this sock. Knitted on US2.

Thank you Anni for another great knit.

Rainforest socks

I won't make the pattern from this month. Not because I don't like them, it's just that there are not enough hours in a day..

But I finished at last my Rainforest socks. Isn't the pattern nice? The yarn is from Trekking, a little bit too bright for me.

Friday 17 October 2008

Finished...

...and once again a lovely pattern, Annie....
The yarn is Mohair from a local that raise the sheep andI coloured it myself.
They are warm and cosy...

Have a nice day you all//Birgitta

I can't believe I won!! (follow up)

Let me try this again. I had it all typed up and when I tried to post it just went weeeewww and was gone. Guess I shouldn't be surprised as my cell phone also just broke (see my blog) so technology is against me today.

My yarn from August win came Monday. My daughter forgot to tell me that it had finally gotten there. Since I am away from home and will be for the next week I told her to go ahead and open the package. She fell in love with it and said she wanted socks out of it. I told her it was for me, but I don't think I have won yet. We will see.
Thanks, Anni. I can't wait to get home for lots of reasons and now to see my yarn. I love getting new yarn and if it is free that is even better.
