Finished!

Here's my version of September's socks:

I added a ribbing to the cuff, did a short row heel and did them toe up. Am wearing them today and oh, so comfy! Made them with Knit Picks Essentials in Ash.

Not this month...

Everyone's socks look so beautiful. Life has gotten in the way of my knitting this month. I hope to be able to join you for October's socks. I'm really looking forward to some me time. I do love the twisted cable socks and will likely do them for a gift for my MIL since these are right up her alley. I already have the yarn picked for the TC's and all (LL Shepherd Sock in "Becca's Last Day" colorway). Great job everyone and see ya' next month.

Sept done just in time.

I just managed to finish my socks. I was not sure if they would get done or not. I cut my left thumb on Sunday and have 4 stitches in it. I could not knit at all on Sunday and only about 5 minutes at at time yesterday. Luckily I only had about 5 rounds of ribbing and the sewn cast off to do so they are done.

Yarn used was Tofutsies, needles used were KP Options size one, done toe up ML, heel was the Widdershins type.

They are on my feet as I type this.
Salvia US2. I did not carry the cabling down the foot because they did not show up well with the brown and blue varigated yarn. Also modified the sole to a princess sole.

Thank you Anni for another wonderful pattern.

I feel your pain!

I'm in the same situation as sockaholic! I've just turned the heels in my two-at-a-time toe up September socks, so they won't be finished by tomorrow. I was late with my August socks too, although they did get finally get done and sent off to my sister-in-law for a surprise

Not this month

Well, at least I got started in the right month:-) I love the pattern, but won't get it finished in time.

September socks done

Just got back from vacation and I am happy to say that my second sock was completed. I got the first sock done in the two days I was stuck at the car repair place before vacation. Went to an Alpaca farm and bought some fiber to spin. This pattern was fun and I love the color that Anni choose for this sock. It happens to be my oldest daughters favoite colors so I may have to fight her over them. We are still in the 90s here, very hot yet cooler than the summer months.

Twisted Cables for Fall

I didn't think I'd finish these socks. We were on vacation and then had to get ready for potential Hurricane Ike company, so I wasn't able to start them until the 18th. The pattern was so beautiful and was easy to memorize (yeah). Everyone who saw the socks in progress thought they were the nicest so far.

So, here they are, lovely and orange (yarn is "Orange Banana" from Anni). My dog kept getting in the way, so here are my socks and my dog.

Now I have to wait patiently until October's pattern!

Twisted Cables

I finished these about a week ago but only now got around to editing the picture. I really love these socks. The colour is beautiful, the yarn is soft and the pattern is just amazing. They took really long to knit up with all those cables but I love cables, so I didn't mind all that much. ;)

Note to self: I really need to get myself some sock blockers for better pictures...

Twisted Cables completed!

I have finished my very first pair in the designated month! I loved this design and do plan on using it again. It was so easy to follow once the pattern was established. Good for my tired brain! Thanks for a wonderful pattern....Kim

September Socks are Done!

I finished my September Socks! I really liked this pattern as it was easy to remember and now I have a super warm pair to wear as the days get colder.

I used Knit Picks Sock Landscapes Redwood from my stash. I had 2 skeins and they are now gone. Thanks for another great pattern, Anni. I will be making more pairs of these, especially when my sister sees them!

He's finished my twisted cable socks I've knitted them with yarn self-dyed by Gerda.
This is the first time that I have put a picture on a blog I hope it is going well

Ready!

I am very happy with the result. I modified the pattern a little, because I didn't want a cable on the side of my foot.
Sorry about the not so clear pfoto. My camera did fall down after taking this picture. It isn't working anymore, so I couldn't make another picture.
The yarn is Trekking.

How's everyone doing?

I love checking the Sockamania blog but I don't always have time to post comments for everyone. So this is a well done to everyone who's finished their socks. And to those who haven't, a word of encouragement. Only a week to go. Or is that going to make you panic? Sorry if it does.

Just wanted to let everyone know that if you want to sign up for Sockamania Plus Merino Sock Club you need to do so by Monday as sign ups for October finishes then. Only a few spaces left. You can sign up for one month or 3 months. I'm nearly finished teh October pattern, the socks will be off the needles today. A knitting friend told me yesterday she thinks the sock looks fab. Teh yarn for October is a new pure merino superwash yarn. It's different from my old 100% merino yarn. And it's gorgeous. I'm really looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks of it. If you want to sign up, head over to my Etsy shop quickly before it sells out.

Have a great weekend everyhone, hope you all get lots of time for knitting.

I'll leave you with a picture of September's colourway. Excuse the silly frame, was playing around with my new camera and this is the only picture I took of the yarn before I sent itall off that came out in the correct colours.

Jup, I won too!!

Just the first month, the first sock of Sockamania and I won............

Thanks Anni!!!!

Tuesday 16 September 2008

Thanks, Anni, the September KAL socks are just right for the yarn my husband likes. So that's his Christmas present (or part thereof) sorted.

Me? I want a ball winder for Christmas. Wouldn't mind it for my birthday, which is sooner, but we need a new cooker, so I'll be having that then. That way we get it!

Off to wind the yarn, by hand. Hmmm, hang the skein on the clothes horse, I think.

Monday 15 September 2008

I can't believe I won!!

Thank you, Anni!!! I was so excited when I saw my name. Especially since I forgot to check until about a week into the month.

I feel bad that I did such a lousy job of photoing the socks. They really look much better in reality than in the pic.

WooooHoooo, I won! LOL

September socks

I love the September socks but haven't started them yet as I had to finish the shawl for my sister. Yesterday I finished the shawl so today I am going to pull out some sock yarn to do this months socks.

Twisted Cables

I'm just uploading the pattern for September's socks - Twisted Cables - which comes in two sizes and are (according to my husband) a man friendly patterns. So knit it in a manly yarn for the man in your life or in a girly yarn for yourself. Please note that if you're knitting the larger size for someone with a large foot you may need more than 100gr yarn.
Please read the Chart Key before starting working chart, as it'll tell you that for the ladies size you only work the white squares of the chart and for the men's size you work the white and shaded squares.

I'll do the draws later. girls haven't gone back to school yet and today I'm looking after my friend's two daughters too so very, very busy.

Here are some pics of hte September sock to tempt you.

a little late!

i lost my second yarn during my remodel move, yikes! but i did finish in a couple of days the second one that is. these are for my daughter and are made with lornas laces mill ends. the pattern is very pretty and a fun quick knit. thanks for sharing.

Flowers & Cables

I am hoping the end of the month deadline depends on your time zone, right? I still have 3+ hours. :) I finished the cables a couple days late. :( I seem to be running a little late on everything, I hope they are going in the mail this month for a little journey. They will soon tell a story of their travels on my blog.
My friends like the cables and now want autumn cable socks to match their clogs.
Now I'll show this months flower socks. These are going out to someone who gave me skeins of sock yarn for my sock blanket. She'll be pleasantly surprised.

August Socks Finished

I enjoyed knitting these socks. I used Kraemer Yarns Saucon Sock. They knitted up very quickly. I am anxious to try them again. Sorry about Maximus. He would not leave them alone. This was the only one I could get without him laying on them. As always, thanks to Anni for sharing her talents with us.
