October Socks!

I've done it!

And on time!

The October sock pattern
In Colinette Jitterbug Florentine

The cable pattern is just barely visible, but the intended recipient loves the socks
They are for a dear friend who will be 54 next month, and has some health issues, and loves how the yarn feels, and the rib pattern that fits but doesn't bind or become too tight.

Jeanne

maybe last, but not least

My elegance socks are finally done! I really loooved the pattern (my first cable sock!), and although I do have some mistakes in the cables, they are at least symmetrical! I used the yarn from the october club package.

Elegance

This was a fun pattern! I love to knit cables. I used Regia Ringel. Sylvia in Ephraim, UT.

Sockaholic's socks

Sockaholic aka Paula H (I've got your username right haven't I?) is having problems posting a pic, I think Blogger is playing up mor ethan usual this month, judging from the amount of drafts on the 'edit posts' list.

Anyway, here are Paula's Elegance socks knitted in Lanartus no 24.

Just in Time!

I love this pattern. It was simple, but elegant. You did a great job with the pattern Anni. I used pumpkin orange sock yarn from Patons that I found in my stash.

September finally done.

I finished these about a week ago but could not remember to bring the camera to the house to take a pic of them. I really enjoyed knitting them and they went pretty fast, I just had to lay them aside to do some Christmas show knitting. A group that I knit with has a "Christmas time sales event at women's clubs" and I had to do some extra knitting for that as we were doing so well. All the money that we make goes to the Markay in town which is a sort of a non-profit art gallery that we are trying to get renovated. It is a lovey old building that needs lots of tender loving care.

Anyway, here are the socks. The main yarn is KnitPicks Essential, I think, and the XO yarn is left over from I think the July socks and is a blend of alpaca and silk, I think. I knit them using two circs from the cuff down.

These are going to be a Christmas prezzy for my hair stylist. She watches me knit socks every month and told me she would love to have a pair and I didn't even have to use expensive yarn, any ole cheap thing would do. LOL. I knit her a beaded purse last year for Christmas and she really loved it, so she is sock worthy. Besides, I have known her most of my life and she started doing my hair about 30 years ago. (WOW, that makes the two of us sound REALLY old, hehehe.)

I doubt that I will get the October socks done until sometime after Christmas but I plan on starting the November socks as soon as I get the pattern.

Thanks for the loverly patterns, Anni.

Killing 3 birds with one stone(pair of socks)!

Entry for Sockamania, entry for a pink sock competition for breast cancer awareness and a gift for a friend who has just had breast cancer surgery.
Unknown, pink/orange hand dye, knitted on 2.75 circs.
Lovely pattern, Anni.

Phew.............just in time!

Because I got my yarn and pattern in good time I felt honour bound to finish them by the end of the month! Not that it was a chore - the pattern is so well written and the yarn, Anni's own merino, is a dream to work with, the softest merino I have ever used. Next month's has just arrived in the post today - wow, the colour is amazing! These will be a Christmas pressy for my sister, although hopefully I can make myself a pair in the New Year!

Sunday 28 October 2007

Second pair of Elegance socks completed!

Ok, I really liked the pattern and just finished a second pair of Elegance socks. This time, I used STR Monsoon, 2.25mm needles, 60 stitches.

Chris

So many wonderful socks!!

Everyone's socks are wonderful! I finished the Noughts and Crosses at the beginning of the month and intended to make Elegance (even had the yarn set aside for them), but Christmas gifts started calling and I have to get them done. I do, however, plan to get back into Sockamania in November as the gifts are going quite well and I think I can pace myself properly to 'gift'-knit and 'sock'-knit without going nutsy!

Thank you to Anni for such wonderful patterns!

Elegance Socks Finished!

Done at last. The second time was the charm - this yarn worked with the pattern much better :).

There will be details on my blog a little later.

I'M OFF......

My yarn arrived on Wednesday. It is luscious and was definitely worth waiting for. I began my socks yesterday and it might seem that I have a bit of "catch-up" to do! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be completing these before the deadline. Better late than never! I hope that mine comes out as fabulous as all those that have been posted. And BTW... I am grateful for Anni for suggesting that we use the Turkish Cast-On. I have never done one. I used this tutorial and oh, my... it is easy! I know that I'll be using this one again, and again, and again, and again, and again.....

Elegance Done

Yarn: Alpine Colorit #715 (grey background with little segments of colors). Ndl: US 0 & 1
I finished October Elegance, but did make some adjustments after the ankle segment. Due to a larger calf I increased the purl segments from 3 sts to 4 sts allowing more leg room. I enjoy toe up versions because its easier to adjust the leg width when the foot/ankle is knitted.

Thanks Anni for another wonderful pattern.

October Elegance Socks

It's been a LOOONG week! It's taken me almost a week to take a picture of the finished socks. Thanks, Anni, for the pattern! This pair are for my youngest son for Christmas.

On ravelry: ladysslipper
Newbie on ravelry...only been on for a week (may also explain the one week to take a picture!)

Hey

I finished this great pattern the first week of October, my fastest socks ever. I spent the rest of the month waiting for a computer geek to help me figure out how to post! I continued the cable to the toe and added rib at the top. I think the yarn is Mountain Colors but I can't find the label. Even Roxie gave her approval!!

Finished

Wow. I can't believe I actually finished another month of socks! Hopefully I can keep up the momentum!!! I had a very nice time doing these, I even switched the cables around to the front and back because I wanted to show the cables when I wear clogs. I used Colinette's Jitterbug yarn in Raspberry- very nice yarn indeed. My only complaint is I thought it pooled too much, but I still like 'em. I also did a wee bit of ribbing at the top. Thanks Annie for the pattern, it was tops!

Yarn Received

The yarn I chose for my prize arrived yesterday. The yarn is scrumptious. I love the colour and it is so soft. Now I just have to figureout what the yarn wants to become. It will have to wait for a little while because I have prior commitments first that must be dealt with.

Thank you Anni once again. I love the club and the yarn is just the icing on the cake.

Fall Elegance

My socks are done! This was my first time knitting cables and I am very happy with the results.

Fall Elegance Socks
I used Union Center Knits, Whatnot sock yarn in the colorway, Fall. I used the large size in the pattern. I added ribbing at the top and used my usual heel (Eye of Partridge).

E-mail trouble

I'vebeen having trouble with my e-mail addresses lately. The one I use for sockamania is playing up and I got behind with e-mails last week anyway. So if you've e-mailed me with a question please be patient or post the question on here instead. I've got 3 hotmailaddresses. One private one (non knititng), one for Sockamania (stashaddicts@hotmail.co.uk) and one for my other knitting stuff and at the moment the only one I can get into is the last one.

Everyone's socks are looking fantastic. I've been so busy lately and not had time to pop in for a few days but I'll ahve a good ready later this week. Won't be tomorrow as all the club yarn will be wrapped up and taken to the post office but Thursday and Friday will be blog catching up days.

Happy knitting,
Anni (who's off to finish the November socks ready for photos tomorrow am and they're looking good).

Blue Elegance

It may be hard to see the pattern in these socks via a picture. I can't wait to wear them tomorrow. I used Fortissima tweed yarn, and of course the fabulous October Elegance pattern. What will November bring us???

Monday 22 October 2007

October Socks Finished

I made the larger size using Smooshy by Dream in Color, on size 1 needles. The pattern is great and very easy to work.

Modest Progress

I like this pattern, and it's turning out beautifully in Bellamoden's Fanny Hill. But alas, I'm not moving very fast with it. This is only my first sock and I've got a ways to go.

Elegance socks finally begun!

I've finally been able to start working on my Elegance socks. I'm knitting these for my mom. She requested more "nature" colors for her next pair. I think this fits the bill.

Elegance socks - October Sockamania KAL

I'm using Lime & Violet Sasquatch Superwash in the color Tinker. I'm knitting the small size. I look forward to starting those cables, I think they will be fun!

SueF socks

I really enjoyed doing my first pair of socks from this group. Way fun. This is yummy hand dyed yarn from a shop in Portland, Or while visiting a couple of months ago. I used ML 3.00mm Addi's. I can't wait for the next pattern
SueF Palo Alto, CA

Sunday 21 October 2007

Finished!

I used Noro Silk Garden Lite and 52 stitches for these. I love the pattern - my complaints were all with the yarn and the stupid knot in one skein that really messed up color continuity. (See where the sock on the left switches from yellow to orange so abruptly?!)

Thanks for the Elegance, Anni, Mom LOVES the socks :)

Not the best photo, sorry, but my mom loves 'em. They didn't initially have the 1x1 twisted ribbing at the top, but my mother has chubby calves, and it didn't look like they were going to stay up. I so enjoyed the cables--thanks to Sockamania, I've successfully tackled socks with Fair Isle and cables. Thanks again, Anni :)

Fun Socks!

it's very hard to photograph "screaming pink" but my oct socks are moving along. i opted for toe up version ~ was concerned i might give up if had to jump right in to the cables!! :)
edited to add: 100% merino superwash ~ purchased from TwoWatersFiberworks on etsy a couple years ago she actually named it "screaming pink"! there are some streaks of red & fuschia in it. i don't think she dyes yarn anymore :(

Half way

I am new to the group like many others, so I thought I better show my half way picture. One sock done and one to go! Pattern is going well so far. How many more days to finish?

Elegant in Red

More pictures are available here. Although I've knit cables before, this is actually the first time I've used them on socks. I sent these to my second Sockapalooooza pal, and I hope they fit! Anni, the design characteristics were a perfect match for my pal, thank you! : )

Simply Elegance

Elegance Completed. I used Dream in Colors "Smooshy" in shades of purple. I also added ribbing at the top -- 12 rows of k2, p2.

October Socks Finished

Wow I finished! These were fun Anni. thank you so much. I ran into a problem with the first sock and I will have to chalk it up to lack of sleep, little three year old pulling on arm while trying to knit, little 7 month old pulling and sucking on sock while nursing and trying to knit or maybe it was something else. Anyway I finished and I learn several new things. First is how to due a Turkish Cast on, second how to knit for the toe up, third some cabling(never did any of that before) and finally how to do a sewn bind off. I will be doing all of these again now that I know they are not so hard. The yarn is an Anni original, part of Sockamania Plus. I love the feel of it, very soft and comfy. Hubby loved it too, said "hey its soft!" Looking forward to Novembers socks. Everyone is doing an awesome job with this months.

purple elegance...

A great pattern, easy to do and very fast too.
I like it very much.

Yarn: Easycare Merino Sock Yarn

(4ply/fingering weight) from Anni.

Thank again for this great pattern .

Elegance Done

The Elegance socks are now an FO. I did the larger size because I didn't think the smaller size would fit. The socks are perfect. I used Lang JaWoll Cotton in colour 54. I love the pattern. The socks are blocking on the blocker now and I can't wait for them to dry so I can wear them. I did add a k3 p3 ribbing after 7 repeats of the cable pattern. I just prefer my socks to have ribbing on the cuff.

Thank you Anni for another fine sock pattern. You are amazing. These socks are great!

SIP ~ Elegance

Here are a couple of progress shots of my socks.

Yarn: 4ply Merino & Cashmere sock (old version) from The Knittery

They're Coming Along :)...

I have a feeling I won't make it for the end of October, just a few too many projects on the needles right now.
This is where I'm at today - starting the second sock now, as I seem to be just ploughing through my yarn! I didn't realize how prominently this would stripe until I got a couple inches in - it seems OK with the pattern so far...

Socks finished, our cat helped!

My Elegance Socks are finished. My camera just won't take good detailed pics. But my daughter's Japanese cat tried to help, and jumped up on the couch next to them as I was about to take the photo. I thought I'd give them to my daughter for her birthday next week. I used Trekking XXL yarn and size 1 needles. I am pleased with them.

Heel turn on top down socks - Any problems?

Anyone worked the heel turn on the top down socks yet? One member is having problems and I'm just wondering if anyone else is having problems getting the heel turn to work correctly as it's written.

I'm test knitting it later just in case, but if you have noticed an error (or notice any other errors in the pattens) please let me know. I do check them very carefully but it's so easy with all the abbreviatons and numbers for a typo to sneak in.

Newbie to Sockamania

Hi.... as you can tell from the title of this post, I am new to this blog. As a matter of fact I am a total newbie to the whole Blog thing, am trying to figure out how to post a photo via Flickr, and am not even sure if this note will post properly. Sounds bad, eh?... LOL! Really, I am not technologically impaired, but admit to being Blog impaired. Guess I'd just rather be knitting!
I started Elegance... toe-up version... and am currently to the point where the gusset starts. I work full-time so can only knit on weekends and on some evenings. I prefer Magic Loop method for sock making and generally do 2 socks at once. All the photos on this Blog are Wonderful, and I can hardly wait to see mine amongst them!

Monday 8 October 2007

Elegance

Yarn: Silja Superwash from Gjestal, colour 357. ("Mom, these are too yellow, you are not allowed to use these!!!"that was my 12year old...). 80%wool,20%nylon, 50g=ca.150m. DPN's 2.5mm.Knitted top down. Only change I did to the pattern was to finish toe with a 3-needle bindoff. These fit me,even with the cable pattern for the small/medium size, even though I have large feet...
Nice and easy pattern, thanks again, Annie:-)

Sunday 7 October 2007

newbie

Hi, everyone. Newbie here also. I have been knitting socks for years and love new patterns. Just don't know if I can figure out the picture posting or not but I will try.

Saturday 6 October 2007

Better late than never?

I finally finished the first Spiralling sock! In my defense, I did start it twice, was still unhappy with the size, and then gave up on it. Later, I started again and this time it came out perfectly. I sized it up to about 1 1/2 times the size of Anni's original pattern. This sock is a men's size 13! It will be perfect for one of the many large footed men in my family. Assuming I get the second one finished in time, they will be a Christmas present.

Another Newbie

Hi all, I have been knitting for years now and this is my first adventure into socks! My sis is "mamere knits too much" and she has been a sock knitter for a long time. Too bad we live so far away from each other, I could sure use her guidance.

My Toe Up Cabled Socks

Hello fellow sock knitters!
Here are my turkish cast-on socks from Anni's October pattern. The yarn is Koigu KPPPM, color #P853, love the color and yarn. This is my second set of socks with Koigu KPPPM yarn and absolutely love the yarn. I also love the October sock, thanks Anni! The socks that have been posted so far are looking great, keep them coming ladies! Rosalia

Love the Elegance pattern!

It took a while for me to decide which yarn to use, but it's smooth sailing (knitting, I suppose) from here on in. I cast on last night, and am having so much fun with the cables! It's been a while since I've knit any so I'm really enjoying this month's pattern. Thanks as always, Anni!

Another apology

Sorry to those of you still waiting for your October pattern. I send them out in various mailing lists as this time it seems to have gotten in a right mess. Some have got zip files (which is strange as I didn't zip anything), some have't got them at all and a few seems to have got the pattern okay. I'm now e-mailing them individually to everyone who's got in touch. Unfortunately it's a slow process and it's been a busy week and I had hotmail problems yesterday which didn't help.

I'm working my way through them all and iwill get back to everyone's already e-mailed me by teatime tonight.

Thanks to everyone for your patience. It's greatly appreciated.

Have a lovely weekend (hopefully you'll all be able to knit your 'Elegance' socks.

Thursday 4 October 2007

I got it!!!

My package came in the mail today. We are soooo excited!! When I say we I mean my daughters and I. The yarn is lovely...my oldest has already claimed the socks. I love the bag it is perfect. I can hardly wait to get started, am waiting on UPS because the are delievering my ball winder. I had been borrowing a friend of mine's winder and she picked it up Monday....Oh oh he's here....Gotta run and get my ball winder.

Elegance... the name suits it!

Wow... everyone must be busy knitting up a storm!
Here is my progress picture...

I'm using Universal Yarn Company's Pace yarn, color 08, size 2 US. I chose to work the large pattern and I love the way they are knitting up! This picture shows 5 complete repeats. I'm at 7 repeats now and will be trying it on to see if I want to continue to 9 repeats. I have small, pudgy feet and short little legs! Thanks so much for the pattern Anni!

Problems with patterns

I'm sorry guys. There seems to have been an awful lot ofproblems with e-mailing out the patterns this month. I'm working on it and if you've e-mailed me you will get a reply. I'm off to feed the kids now but will be back tonight and will try to catch up with more e-mails then.

Thanks for all your patience. Not sure why some e-mails are arriving and others not.

Wednesday 3 October 2007

It's a start for "Elegance"....!!!

Here is the first part of my sock for october.
The pattern is very easy to do and Anni's yarn is so soft!!!
I have added a little ribbing at the beginning...
I like it better this way.
Thanks for an other great pattern Anni !!!

Winners

My daughers have just done the September draw for me. I allocated all the names iwth finished socks a number and the girls gave me a number each. The winners are......

June Fowler & Yosemite

Congratulations ladies. Check out my Etsy shop to choose your prize yarn and e-mail me with your choice. You can choose from anything on there - lace, dk, worsted or sock yarn - BFL, alpaca or merino- Just e-mail me with your choices and addresses.

Now the October pattern. I sent them out yesterday, with one mailing list done this morning as I forgot it yesterday. Sorry. But quite a few people seem to not have got it. I've rearranged most of the mailing lists since last month to make the e-mailing easier and I'm wondering if I've missed some. Keep e-mailing me if you ahvne't got it yet as it'll help me to work out what's gone wrong.

Happy knitting!

New Sock Pattern

Hello all, I got the pattern for September - - BUT I have to still practice my 2-color knitting in order for me to tackle that pattern. October sock pattern definitely looks like its more doable for me. Thanks for the pattern, Anni! Rosalia

sockamania blog invite

thank you for the invite. i loved looking at everyones finished socks from september. i received my october pattern and can hardly wait to get the yarn and begin. thanks again carol

Another Newbie...

Howdy!
I'm excited about this KAL! I love socks and this is the perfect "excuse" to knit more.
I have started October's pattern. I'm 1-1/2 repeats into the first sock! Are we supposed to post progress pics or just the finished products? I charted mine out to work on 4 needles... I hope that's okay. I prefer 4 (actually 5) to 3 as it makes it more "round" to work with.
Thanks so much for doing this... your designs are marvelous!

Yeah, I'm a newbie too!

I am glad there is another newbie here. I am super excited to try Anni's yarns and patterns. I have slight (cough, ahem) problem with sock knitting. I just need to find more victims oh I mean recipients. Thanks to Anni for all her hard work and sharing her talent with us.

She's aliiiiiiive

Well, it's been a really long time since I posted. (er, May...?)

I have started every pattern since then, mind. I have one sock finished save for the bind-off, but lacking a mate, a foot catastrophically too large for me (this would have developed cables in the next row, after I realized that cables across the top of my foot were a Bad Idea), and an ankle that is catastrophically to small for me.

What gauge issues? Where??

I haven't managed to post about any of this, as I have been graduating, moving, getting married, going on honeymoon, getting a new job, dealing with a dead car, moving again, camping on a couch for two weeks, starting a new job, and moving again. *pant, pant, pant* Knitting has been a little...slowed.

But now, at long last, Lo! a sock. Not merely A sock, dear reader. Oh, no...there is...a pair!

Nature's Palette Fingering Weight Merino, colors Dark Teal (which looked much darker on the screen...the perils of ordering online) and Odd Duck #3, knit on US #2 for the Fair Isle and US #1 for the foot--a plan which worked very well, although magic loop and fair isle do not mix very well. Live and learn. They came out looking very springlike indeed. I did two repeats of the chart, not wanting to run out of the contrast before I had done heels and toes, because I like the look. I have a fairly silly amount of yarn left over, which I'll be working into some frankensocks sometime soon.

I'm a Newbee

Hi all you sock makers! I am coming to the dark side and joining the club! I am looking forward to being a part of the group and hopefully will win some yarn now and then! I am a breast cancer survivor, newly divorced and at the life experience year of 41 have started nursing school. I knit to keep me sane! I LOVE the folks in my knitting group in Atlanta, GA USA. Some of the best friends I have had in years! Thanks to Anni for hosting this and all the hard work that must go into it!
Keep those needles whizzing!
