March pattern

Thank you to everyone for being so patient. I did get hte March pattern out to half the members this morning. Unfortunately Hotmail won't allow me to e-mail you all in one day so second half will be done tomorrow. May try again tonight to see if Hotmail will allow me but please be patient until tomorrow.

As usual I get a lot of 'Failure to deliver' notifications. But please, if you havent received your pattern today, wait until I post on here tomorrow before you e-mail. As your name may be in the 2nd half of the mailing lists.

i'm looking into other alternatives of distributing the pattern to members and helpful suggestions and offers of help to set something up is coming in already. I'm hoping to get a better system up and running in time for April.

Happy knitting,

Anni

I can't wait....

I can't wait to get my first sockamania pattern. I'm so excited!

Feb and March

Well, February turned into a bit of a disaster... lovely pattern and yarn, but never quite got it together to cast on...

There are mitigating circumstances: my school is being inspected this coming week and I've a shedload of work on the go and not much knitting time...

However, the March pattern and yarn arrived yesterday and am I excited???
Next weekend, my first task is to cast on... yum, yum, yum!!!

March is for spring !

MARCH IS FINALLY HERE !!!
IT MEANS THE COMING OF SPRING!

with Easter and chocolate!

Warmer days and the return of mister Robin !
and a new sock pattern on it's way !

March Pattern

Hi everyone, I know you're all probably waiting eagerly for the March pattern to arrive in your inboxes. Just been really busy today and got a full day of family stuff tomorrow (it's Mother's Day) so I'm afraid it's going to be Monday before I'll have time to send out the patterns. The patterns have to go out over two days as Hotmail won't allow me to e-mail you all in one day so some of you may not get it until Tuesday. If Ican find time tomorrow evening I'll start sending some out then.

The reason I'm not doing it today is that I've been very busy and my neck/back is hurting a lot and I've got really bad headache and I'm just too tired now. I've been feeling quite off all week and the state I'm in right now too much computer time will just be too much for me. And it does takea while to get the patterns out. So please do accept my apologies. I'll do the February draw tomorrow or Monday.

Have a lovely weekend,

Anni

Waiting for the March pattern !

Happy March, everybody !
So excited to try my first Sockamania pattern !
I hope I'm up to the challenge.........good luck and good knitting, everyone !

Not this month

I was on a roll for awhile, but did not quite finish the first sock of the pair. And of course the battery is dead on my camera and waiting for a charge. I will add the picture of my progress as soon as the battery is fully charged.

Thanks Anni for another wonderful pattern. And thanks to the other members for such great pictures and inspiration. My goal for March is to actually finish a pair within the month.

Finiiiished!

Technically it's after midnight...but what the heck, I still feel very accomplished.

They're sooooo comfy. I love this pattern. This was my first time doing toe-up, and I think I like it, and I managed to bind off loose enough so that I can fit my feet in, which is awesome.

Only thing is that mine came out a little loose, so the heart pattern doesn't stretch out and look as cool as it should.

Oh well. I am wearing these tomorrow. Can't wait for the next pattern!

Barely Under the Wire

I just finished these. They are not blocked yet but I did get DS to wear one of them for photo purposes. He is not pleased but I find it very amusing. (big grin)

I loved the pattern. This is my first toe-up and I have a lot of work to do before I get it right. And I never did manage to get the sewn cast-off to work. That will be an ongoing challenge. But it was great fun to watch the hearts form. The yarn is a stash yarn called Violet's Pink Ribbon. And I had to drop to 2.5mm needles to get gauge. I am still not sure the heel will feel right since I have oddly shaped heels. But I am eager to wear these. And hoping they insure Spring will arrive soon. Oh please, let Spring arrive soon. This has been the snowiest, rainiest, sleetiest (sleetiest? is that a word) February on record. And it is still snowing. I can hardly wait for March and the new sock pattern. Anni is a genius. Don't you agree?

February, finished

I love the February pattern. I made these for my sister. She had requested red socks and I had just the perfect color. I changed the ribbing to just a twist for more stretch. Now I am ready for March.

Simply Last Minute

I'm sure I won't be the last, but close... These were my 1st toe-up socks, and I knit Magic Loop, so this pattern really challenged me. I had needles flying everywhere! LOL. At one point I had 3 circs and 2 dpns going. But I made it through to the end. Woohoo! (Just don't look too closely, I still have a bit to learn. )

I made a couple of modifications: (1) I reduced to 60 stitches rather than 64 around, since I have a narrow foot; and (2) I did 2 repeats on the leg, not because I was running out of time (which of course I was), but because I was running out of yarn. I used Knit Picks Risata.

Pic... (Don't they look nice against my paste-y white skin?)
Simply love2

I really love the design, especially the cuff.

My first pair ever !

I made it ! Just finished my first pair of socks! I knitted big woolen socks as a teen, but that is way waaaayyy back. :) I have to admit that i did not do the toe up, i just did not understand. I would need someone to show me so i am thinking of taking a workshop in a yarn store. Would be fun. I also did hearts only on the front because i had to reduce stitches since my feet are so small. I was afraid 64 was too many for me. The striping yarn was not ideal for the pattern, but that is all i could get my hands on at the time.Hope it still make me eligible for the draw ? Anyway, it was really fun and thanks to Annie ! Can't wait to see the march pattern !

Simply Love--At the Last Minute!

If I hadn't been so busy finishing a sweater, another pair of socks, and tending to surgery and broken bones (see my blog for details) these socks would have been done much earlier in the month. This was a wonderful pattern and I have received more compliments on this pair (in waiting rooms, doctors offices, etc) than I have on any other pair that I have knit in public.
I used my own hand dyed yarn--a donegal tweed superwash wool dyed with cherry red dye. I loved the clever ribbing at the top. This was a wonderful pattern and I really enjoyed making them!! You could say that I "Simply Love" these "Socks"!!

Not this month

I'm not going to get this month's socks made. Since my DH opened a coffee shop Feb. 12, it seems like our lives have been consumed by that. Maybe next month...

First One!

Yay! I finally finished a Sockamania Sock!
So much knitting, so little time....

A very fun knit, thank you Anni.

Finished Just In Time

I havent really had much time to get these done this past month with one thing and another but finally got them off the needles about 10 mins ago.
I have used Anni's merino sock yarn in strawberry punch (i think it is) which i have had in stash for a while now. Needles used were addi turbo 2.5mm because i didnt have any 2.25mm, will have to invest in some i think as these are a little baggier than i prefer. Also i only did 2 pattern repeats on the legs as i have very short legs and they would have been knee length on me otherwise.

Do the Knitting Pixies Exist?

I really hope they do, else there's little chance of these socks getting finished by tomorrow. I've only got the leg of the second one to do but not enough time to do it. It's a pity as I really like this pattern. Haven't quite got the hang of the ribbing but I'm going to perservere as I like how it looks on the posted socks. Looking forward to March when I'll hopefully have loads of knitting time.

Made it!

Purple Opal uni, on size 2mm circs.
Lovely fit - wish now I'd done the 3 repeats on the legs, instead of 2.
Looking forward to March!

awwwww

everyone's socks look so great!

i'm sad to report that i won't finish ~ have barely started ~ still on toe increases.

life kinda got in the way this month! :(

but here comes March - right?? !

No Socks for me

Hi! Well I didn't get to the February socks so hopefully I can finish the March ones when the pattern is released! I am looking forward to it!

Simply Love These Socks!

Pattern: Simply Love from Sockamania Yarn: BMFA Socks That Rock lightweight 100% Superwash Merino in the Firebird colorway (2007 Socks That Rock Yarn Club). Needles: Knitpick's 2.5 mm dpn's. Completed: February 24, 2008. Mods: I needed to knit these from the top down so I reversed the pattern and then changed it so that the hearts were scattered instead of patterned. I also knit the cuff in p2 /k2tbl ribbing.

Last Day For February Socks

Reminder that February is a short month. To be eligible for this months drawing remember to post your completed February socks photos by Friday, February 29th.

2 1/2 socks don't make a pair

2 1/2 socks don't make a pair

On the bottom of the picture you can see a completed New Year sock. On the top you can see a completed Ripple sock and it's half size mate. It would be great if I could finish it by the end of the month but I don't think that's going to happen! I guess I'll finish them in March. Once that one is done I'll work on knitting the pair to the New Year sock. I'm also looking forward to getting the March pattern! : )

You know you have too much yarn

I just started the socks on Saturday and didn't have suitable yarn. All my sock yarn are too striping so I was afraid that the heart would disappear.

So I went and bought yarn, not the color I would have liked but it was the least striping that I could find. Started knitting and am now on the foot of the first sock.
Guess what? This morning I found suitable yarn in my OWN house. And two different balls of yarn that I would have loved to make these socks from ... Maybe some other time.

These are going to be to big for my feet. At one point I thought that maybe I would share the socks with someone who has bigger feet, but nah - I can use them even if they are a bit big.
