Get Outside! in November

I always picture November--here where I live--as being the last chance to get out and really enjoy the outdoors before having to bundle up like the abominable snowman.

With this in mind, and with all the hunter's and outdoorsman in my life, I decided to share this pattern with all of you for our November Sock of the Month Pattern.

I used a very durable, yet very soft, yarn from Haneke Wool Fashions. It is a sport weight merino/linen blend yarn. I have several colors in stock in my store--most are masculine. However, I have a couple of more colors that I will be posting for sale later this week. Be sure to check it out if you would like to use the same yarn I did.

I added a "boot cuff" to the sock (it's optional on the pattern). Boot cuff's prevent all of the rice grasses, thorns, and burrs from finding their way into your boots. You can make it as long as you want and to the specifications of the boot wearer. Just make sure your bind off is nice and elastic so that it will fit down over the boot.

This is a super warm, super soft, and super easy sock!

I managed to knit up these beautiful pair of socks just in time. I sew in the ends a few minutes ago ;)

Autumn Leaves

A bit of alate start on these- my printer broke down....but now they're done. Rather a quick knit, but I struggled a while before I understood p inc! Modelled by my daughter. I used Sisu, 2-at-a-time, magic-loop, 2,5mm needles.

Autum Leaves

Wow! These knit up fast. I didn't think I would have time this month. I had to finish a sweater so it could go to its new home in Oregon when my sister came down for a visit. Before she left she said she would like a pair of wool socks. Hmmm, there is two weeks left I should be able to do that. So I took a skein of Anni's sock yarn and Tama October's pattern. I have never knit with out a chart, my eyes kept dancing around and I would loose my place. I stuck a ruler on the row I was on and it helped out, until someone walked off with my ruler. LOL These were fun, looking forward to Novembers Socks

Autumn Leaves Finished

Here are my finished Autumn Leaves socks. Sadly the photo doesn't do them justice. They look much nicer when they're on.

I used Rico Design's Superba Klassik in a forest green colour from my stash. I used 2.5mm Hiya Hiya needles. This was a lovely pattern that took me just out of my comfort zone enough to keep me on my toes. Loved it! Thanks Tama for a great pattern. Looking forward to next months.

October Autumn Leaves

I chose to only do the ankle in the pattern, leaving the rest of the sock in stockinette stitch. I was afraid that I wouldn't have enough yardage on my skein. Now waiting impatiently for the November pattern.

November is Just Around the Corner--and Changes

I know you are all busy knitting away on the October pattern, but my mind is thinking about November! The pattern is almost done and I have just listed several yarns that are perfect for the November pattern in my etsy store.

The November sock is unisex. So for those of you wanting to make something up for that "Outdoorsman" in your life, or on your gift list, you will definately want to get in on making this sock! Any sport weight yarn will do, but Haneke makes a wonderful merino/linen blend that I LOVE! Super soft, but all the durability and strength of linen. Sport weight yarn means that the November sock will knit up quickly--you will probably have time to make a couple of pairs in fact!

I haven't wanted to do many changes to the KAL because it is set up perfectly. But, I do have two changes I want to make: #1. We will only have one monthly winner instead of two. I know this is not necessarily a "good" change, but the reason for it is............ #2. We will have a "GRAND PRIZE" drawing every six months. Everyone who completes all six patterns in six consecutive months and posts their socks to the blog will be put into the drawing for the Grand Prize. The Grand Prize will be a surprise! All kinds of goodies like stitch markers, needle bags, yarn, a sock pattern, etc. will show up in your mail box should you be the winner of the semi-annual Grand Prize!!!!!! So, let's get busy and get going! October is the first month and March will conclude the first six months set. At the end of March everyone who has knit all six months of patterns will have a chance to win the Grand Prize!!!!

Remember to pick up your yarn for November early so that it has time to reach you before the November pattern comes out. You will need about 350 yards of sport weight yarn for the socks.

October Leaves Second Try

It worked this time. The yarn is much prettier than the picture shows--warm taupe, teal, peach, and cream. And the leaves show up well, even though they don't in the picture. The yarn is from my stash and the label was gone--maybe Lorna's Laces?

October Done!

My socks are finished and they are gorgeous! Having trouble uploading the photo--Blogger says there is an internal error. I did them toe up, so the leaves are climbing rather than falling, but the friend to whom I've giving them for Christmas won't know the difference. I will take another pic and try to post it tomorrow.

Autumn Leaves in Purple?

I know that purple isn't a traditional color for fall, but since I'm stash busting, it was better than blue stripes. Many thanks to Tama for a fun pattern.

It's still not cold enough to wear socks, but these will be fun to wear when/if it ever feels like fall.

Autumn Leaves for October

Finally and Just in Time

These socks were made from a very wrong color scheme in Lorna's Laces. The striated black and gold look terrible. The pattern was really great though. It is Colosseum. I greatly enjoyed knitting the pattern. Thanks Anni. It has been great fun. I wish you the best with your new adventures.

Better late than never!

Footloose. These were fun to knit up. I just finished them yesterday, doesn't look like I have time to do either of the Sept socks in time. Both are lovely patterns. Thanks Anni for all the wonderful patterns and inspiration! I hope you will still be popping in now and then.

thanks for the pattern, it is beautiful and was fun. the yarn is a bamboo/merino from yarn pirate i believe. they fit perfect and my friend loves them.

Here are the No Name Socks in Happy Feet yarn. As soon as these came off the needles a friend had them on her feet. Happy friends equals more happy knitting. Thanks for the pattern!

I have one more sock left on the next pair. I hope to finish up before time runs out. These will be my 3rd pair of socks for the month. :)

My Hot Air Balloon Socks

Here are my finished "Hot Air Balloon Socks". Knitted in Trekking and neadles size 2.

I have to say that left and right sock are in the same size! I have used 2 pattern repeats both on the foot and the leg.

The pattern is great, but I think I will try to use chart 2 for the whole leg and no pattern at all on the foot. And probably only 10 rounds for the cuff.

Finished my first ever Sockamania socks!

No name socks for my 4yo ds.

I originally started knitting these for myself, but 3/4 way through the foot of the first sock, I realised I wasn't going to have enough wool! After a bit of calculation, I resized them and knitted them for my ds instead, he loves them :-) so that makes me happy!
