Rainforest is not completed.

The pattern is beautiful, but I procrastinated too long. My socks will not be done by midnight! You can bet I will start this month's as soon as it is posted. This week has been Eventful...Hubby had a birthday 6/25 and retired today...had SupriseVisit!!!! from our son and an expected visit from our eldest daughter. With 2 grandpuppies, 4 kids and a lot of excitement the needles sat idle. July will be calmer....maybe.

Speedway Socks

Blogger has not been my friend today, have had terrible trouble uploading, but here are one pair of this months socks.
i am not sure of the yarn as it came from Wolle Hausmann and had just a plain band on it, it feels like Opal but cant be certain. Needles used were 2.75mm Knitpicks circs.
I think the yarn that i chose really shows the pattern well, the chevrons are really well defined (although apologies if it doesnt look it in the pic as 10 year old DD took it)
I have made these in a size 6 for my sister who wanted a pair to go into hospital with next week when she has her baby.

Only just...

Here are my Rainforests - nice and close to the deadline, I've literally just finished the second and had to use the flash to take the piccie. Not quite burning the midnight oil but I did wonder whether my camera battery would be flat - you know how the printer always stopped working on that last minute essay...I knit these using 2.25mm Harmony DPNs which I just love soooo much. The yarn is Tofutsies in Get Your Feet Wet. I'm less passionate about this stuff I have to say. I found it very flat and lifeless and the plies tended to separate rather easily. The finished fabric is lovely and has a nice feel to it, so I have somewhat mixed feelings about the yarn overall.

Thanks for another lovely pattern Anni, a real fun knit when I buckled down and got on with it :o)

Stole slacker

I could only get to the second half, one plus change repeats. I wish that I had started a bit sooner, but my #5 needles were tied up, and I had wait until we were going to go to the big city to get another set. Congrats to those who finished on time!

Rainforest done

These were a very fast knit for me, and not only because they are short topped. It took me 6 days to finish these.

I used yarn that I had gotten in my Knitter's Connection membership bags last year and this year. The yarn is Claudia Hand Painted Yarns. The toe/heel is Baby Girl and I got it last year, the foot/leg is Strawberry Latte and I got it this year. The t/h said it had 50 grams but there was maybe 20 and the f/l also said 50 but there was way less. Everytime I have had 100 grams of yarn to knit a pair of socks for myself I have had about 1/3 of the ball left over and this time I had 9 pieces ranging from 1.5" to 10.5" of the f/l and about 4 yards of the t/h yarn. I did manage to finish a patter repeat instead of running out in the middle of it.

I did these toe up, ML, 2 at once. I used KP Options size 1 with a 40 " cable.

Speedway Socks

I just finished these 10 minutes ago, i had to get them done in time for the end of the month, they would have been done sooner but other projects got in the way first.

Speedway socks for June

They are the same size honest! Fortissima Socka colori on 2.75mm circs. Added a few garter stitch rows to the top of the cuff.

And yet another May Day...

I made it in time for once! And with a day to spare. So happy! And I really like the socks! The pattern is great and relatively easy.

I knit the larger size of the pattern with Mascot, the first shipment from the All Raveled Up sock club. And yes, it's rather busy but I love it. Defenitly no boring sock! ;) Knit on 2.5mm for the leg and heel and then I switched to 2.0mm needles for the foot. And they fit really, really well.
I'm a very happy bunny right now!
Thanks for all the great patterns this month, Anni, it was really hard to pick!

Celebration Shawl complete!

I finished up the knitting and blocked the stole to it's glory yesterday. I absolutely love this stole. The knitting is straightforward, and the lace pattern is very pretty. The yarn is a custom colorway that Scout of Scoutswag dyed for me. It's her merino laceweight. The stole is a smidge narrower than the finished dimensions as stated in the pattern, but I think this is because the laceweight I used is lighter than the laceweight called for. I think the simple lace pattern looks lovely with the colorway though. I'm quite pleased.

RAINFOREST FINISHED

These are my current favorite!! Thanks for another great pattern.

Another pair of May Days in June

I had actually finished these socks in early June but only recently got the invite for this blog. (Thank you for the invite, Pam. I know you are really busy and I really didn't mind to wait!)

I really loved this yarn that I got for June with Anni's Sock Club. Not a color I would normally have chosen but boy did they turn out nice! I really love these socks now and they fit really well (I have a tendency to make socks just a little bit too big). The pattern is just wonderful, easily memorized and quick knit. Half way through I feared the yarn wouldn't be enough (I do have big feet) but luckily I was wrong. I have just enough left over to make a mini sock keyring pendant. :)

May Day Scoks finished

This turned out way dark, but I'm sick of messing with it. I don't usually block my socks, but I think these will benefit. If they look large, it's because they are--men's size 12 for my brother, in Anni's beautiful YarnAddicts merino/bamboo in Intense Green. The yarn was alovely to work with. My husband, who is quite conservative, eyed them doubtfully and said,"Do you think he'll actually wear them?" Yes, he actually will, and he'll love them!

Thank you, Anni!

My yarn arrived this afternoon, and it's just lovely. Thanks so much!

Hubby has already started making overtures of how perfect it is for his next pair of socks. LOL. Wonder what I can extract from him in return....

Sockamania PLUS

First I want to say well done to everyone who's finished a pair of socks already this month. I've just been scanning through the blog and the socks all look fab. So many gorgeous colourways and a variety of patterns. If you've not finished you've got the weekend and Monday to get them done and posted.

Now a little plug for Sockamania PLUS Merino Sock Club. If you want more than a pattern each month, sign up for the PLUS club and get a 100gr skein of YarnAddict Superwash Merino Sock Yarn too. The yarn will be especially hand dyed in a colourway to suit the monthly sock pattern. I've just posted July's parcels but you can sign up now for August.

Here are some pics of previous month's colourways:

Simply Cables at last

These are my first contribution to the blog. The cables were tough going at first, but by the time I started the second sock, I felt much more competent with them. I love the classic elegance of this design and will definitely be doing it again. The socks were knit with Scheepjes Invicta Extra on size 0 circulars. I used a 5" bamboo double pointed needle to work the cables. The yarn really is not as vibrant an orange as the photo would suggest; it is more of a pumpkin color. Anyhow, thanks, Anni, for such a lovely design.

Speedway Completed

The perfect pattern for my varigated yarn! Vinca, color 9. US2

Thank you, Anni, for another beautiful sock pattern

I finished my Simply Cable socks, but sadly no way to post a picture. I knit them in Dream In Color Smooshy Cocoa Kiss. They were for a friend and I've already given them to her.

Some June Socks...

Pattern: Speedway Socks by Anni Yarn: Zen Yarn Garden Bamboolicious Yarn Needles: Knitpick Harmony 2.25mm Started: June 13, 2008 Completed: June 18, 2008.

I really love this pattern - then I started the Rainy Day socks too!

Rainforest Socks - Upside Down

Here are my completed Rainforest Socks. Of course they're upside down, but they're having fun anyway. Everyone thinks they're wonderful and I've had several people hinting that they'd love to have them - but they're mine! I waited quite a while to find a pattern that would work with this yarn, and I think that the Rainforest pattern was perfect.

Unfortunately, since it's 100° again today these socks will now go in the drawer and wait patiently for fall.

As usual, these are toe-up, magic loop on a size 1 needle.
Schoeller + Stahl Fortissima Colori Socka Color yarn in color 1776

Thanks Anni for another great pattern!

Elegance Socks for June

Yes, that's the pattern I've picked for June. The pattern is beautiful, and the socks are so tight and nice.

Sunday, 22 June 2008

At last I finished the Simply Cable Socks. I loved the pattern, but I am a very slow knitter. I used Trekking Ombre 100. The colours are very autumn. In fact, too autumn for me, but they will make a nice present. yvonnep

I"ve been MIA

Been busy with sock wars III but I'm done now, had to forfit b/c of wrist injury, dang it...but I got my socks knit. Wrist is feeling a bit better now, it just flares up sometimes. So I'm looking forward to July's pattern(s). Nice socks y'all - I have been checking the site, just not knitting anything from it for a while.

June - Rainforest

May day socks in june

I finished my May day socks today. Great pattern, very nice result with self striping yarn! I will use this pattern again, for sure.
For these socks I used Opal wool/cotton, nld 2,5.

Simply Cables Half Done

Last night I finished the first sock of my Simply Cables. I had hoped to have the pair done by now, but for almost two weeks my entire household has been laid low by an especially vicious strain of the common cold. If nothing else goes wrong, I should be able to finish the second sock by month end. I really like the finished pattern, although I do not much like working the cables with such skinny yarn and tiny needles.

All the socks look great!

Sadly, I have been swamped with work and kid things and haven't had a chance to do any myself, but I love looking at all the beautiful socks everyone else has been knitting! :)
