My needles are still smokin'!
I'm so happy - I finished! I had started the first sock and ended up ripping to the snowflakes and changing to a smaller needle. So glad I did, they fit great and after the Christmas knitting was complete, I was able to burn through these! This is my first Sockamania project. I used Knit Picks Essential in Dusk and Bare Superwash for the flakes. I also added a flake on the heel starting on the 10th heel row.
Thanks for the great pattern! I loved seeing all the different versions! Happy New Year to All!

Happy New Year to you all
Been too tied up with end of term stuff with my girls and christmas to get the socks done this month!
All the socks posted look fabulous and I am inspired to do a few pairs for next christmas pressies!!
Looking forward to January's pattern

Finished!
If these seem like very tall socks, they are! I made them for my adult son's size 12 feet. One and a half were finished in time for Christmas. The brown yarn is Knitpicks Essential Tweed in russet. The snowflakes and toes are something from my yarn stash, which is beginning to rival my fabric stash.
Sandy
Whoa! Hot Off the Needles!
I honestly did not believe that I would get these done in time. I knew I wanted to repeat the pattern all the way down the leg (making it a 9 1/2 inch leg) and I waited until Christmas day to start them. The pattern went really fast once I had it memorized.
I used Patons Kroy Sock yarn in "Chelsea Tweed" and KnitPicks Bare superwash sock yarn. I love the tweed yarn. It doesn't really show up very well in the picture, but the colors are the same as when you look down into deep fresh water lakes--there are dark green and dark blue lines with whitish light blue sunbeams that stream down through the water. Really gorgeous color!
When I make them next time--when I have more time--I intend to carry the pattern all the way down the foot and add a traditional Norwegian toe and sole pattern to it.
Thanks Anni! Another great pattern!

I started this pair of sock couple weeks ago, but it's slow due to the holidays. It's a very interesting yarn that come with 2 spool of nylon to enforce the heel stitches. I made a pair of ankle socks with another pattern but I couldn't figure how to use it. This pattern is very easy to do with 2 color of pattern. The snowflake yarn is from left over wool yarn. I am very please with the combination. Thank you for the beautiful pattern and I learn a lot with knitting in 2 colors.
Happy Holiday for everyone.

Done...
Another better late than never
I'm really behind on my Sockamania KAL, but at least I'm trying...
I finished on Christmas Eve my pair of Elegance socks. They were for my mom and I was able to give them to her there and then. Here she is sporting her new socks:
I also finished about a month ago sock #1 of the Ripples pattern:
These will be for one of my best friends for her birthday in May, so I have time to finish the pair!
I'm looking forward to receiving another beautiful pattern by Anni in January!

Finished November's Ripples
Thought I'd better own up to being a late finisher. I did knit 2 November socks but in different yarns. The first one I knitted was in the prototype for the November club yarn and then I started my proper pair in the actual club yarn. And I finally finished them on Christmas Day. It's only taken me 2 months to get 2nd sock done.
So if you're a late finisher like me, show us your photos. We'd still like to see your socks even though you won't qualify for any draw.
Just finished typing up the January pattern and printing it out for PLUS members. Parcels will go out tomorrow. The rest of you will get your patterns e-mailed to you on 1st or 2nd January.
Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. We had some illness left over in this house. My husband was in bed all afternoon on Christmas Day and Emily on Boxind Day. All better now though.
Green with Envy....
I am so envious of you super fast knitters of socks...lol I am two months behind in the patterns, but am still working on them. I wish I could knit just a little faster:) My hats off to you speed knitters!
December Socks Frogged...
I finally frogged my socks... I didn't like the colors and I casted on with my "you will never finish a project with us" dpns.
But I will knit the december pattern again, in other colors. And I have to remember that I never ever try making white socks again ;)
I'm looking forward to the january pattern,
Tanja

One sock done!
My first Snowflake sock is done, not very much knitting time, right now around X-mas, and I´m not sure if I´m going to be finished before December 31, but I`ll give it a try. I don`t have much experience knitting with two colors, but I`m pleased with the result, with a little more practise I think it could be very nice.
I really like the pattern, thankyou Anni.
Smack Myself
I cannot believe I made this wonderful pattern into two gorgeous socks and then forgot to take a photo of them. The good news is that they were a complete success. Much ooohing and aaaahing and petting. The recipient (the sister) petted them and said they looked like machine-made socks! So I promised her I would never knit for her again (ha !). She apologized profusely and begged for more. This was a great pattern and great fun to knit. Thank you for including me this month.

As I promised...
I have made a start!
Bowing to my permanent paranoia about running out of yarn, I am working toe up... does this matter??? I also frogged my first attempt and restarted on smaller needles (size 1) which suits the yarn better and will be a closer fit...
I'm just finishing the gusset increases and will be ready to turn the heel in the morning...
Next... to sort the camera issues so I can add a pic...

Happy Christmas
Just wanted to pop along and wishe everyone a
Happy Christmas!
I hope you all have a brilliant time and get lots of time for knitting over Christmas. Actually some of you may already be celebrating as in Scandinavia the celebrations take place on Christmas Eve.
I'm working hard on the January pattern which is nearly finished but I've been distracted lately by my new spinning wheel. The Janaury yarn for the PLUS club is all ready to be posted in a few days and it's looking gorgeous. Very fresh and fun colours.
I love everyone's socks this month. Not had time to comment on each post but ahve looked at them all and they're fab. If you're not finished remember you've still got a week. And I probably won't do the draw til 2nd or 3rd Jan.
Have a wonderful Christmas everyone!

Snowflakes are finished!
Snowflakes
I just want to say thank you for allowing me to join the group and also a big thank you for giving me a reason for trying fair isle. I was always too scared because it looked too difficult, but now I realise that I absolutely love the technique. Looking forward to the new project.
Christmas Snowflakes
This is my first attempt at colour work on socks. I haven't quite got the hang of the technique, so the tension is not quite as even as I would like it to be.
They are for my son for Christmas, so they are in 'boy' colours, grey snowflakes on a navy background.
After finishing the pattern, I decreased to 60 stitches so that they would fit snugly round the ankle and foot. I did a reinforced heel as my son has very bony heels!
Thank you for another interesting & challenging pattern.

Snowflakes Completed
My First Sockamania Socks

Slow progress...
Ok, I've had them put down for a bit, while I did work on two other pairs of socks, but I figure I've still got a week to finish :) Between Christmas and New Year's Day we're going to put a new floor down in our living room, which means, disconnecting and moving the computer... so... I won't have net access. So I need to finish these socks ASAP!!

My sock yarn I won from Novembers raffel arrived yesterday. It is beautiful shades of blue. Thank you Anni. Merry Christmas all.

Festive Feet
I finished these a couple of days ago, and I love 'em! The stranding makes them lovely and warm which is great given the current temperatures here.
I used Knit Picks Bare Merino for the snowflakes. It's a bit thicker than the the red Palette, but I think it's worked out okay. The motifs on the second sock mirror those on the first, and I finished the foot with 6-point shaping to keep the theme going.
The Cedar arch expansion I used from Cat Bordhi's New Pathways for Sock Knitters: Book One is unusual, and fits really nicely too. The increased tension in the two colours caught me by surprise, so I had to frog my first attempt and go up a needle size. I used 2.5 mm DPNs for all the single-colour knitting with 2.75 mm for the motifs. I also reduced the number of stitches to 64 for the heel and foot.

Two snowflakes!
And that makes a pair! This is all I had in my stash for color work and it turned out better than expected. This is fortissima black tweed and gold, using size two needles. I could not resist the gradual coloring in the toes. Nice pattern, can't wait for next months!

Purled snowflakes
I love the idea of purling the snowflake... (I'm not a colour knitter either)...
I've got the yarn... some very squishy hand-dyed BFL sock called 'burnt toffee' from Fyberspates and promise faithfully to cast on on Boxing Day when the Christmas knits are finished!!!

I got my yarn!
I was lucky enough to win the drawing for November. I received Anni's lovely yarn yesterday. I chose the beautiful Cherry colorway. I really like the colors and it feels very soft. I'm anxious to try it out.
Thanks Anni!!!

One down, one to go
I have finished one sock, and I love this pattern, it will definately become a winter must for gift giving. I used Cherry Tree Hill in Amethyst, and Knit Picks undyed for the snowflakes. I changed the heel to eye of partridge and since the foot was plain finished with a slip stitch toe. Thank you Anni for this wonderful holiday pattern. I loved seeing all the interpretations and individual touch.

Half A Snowflake
I've finished the first snowflake sock. When I blocked it I wasn't sure I was going to be able to see the snowflakes with the knit purl sts instead of using another colour. I was even thinking about doing the second sock with the snowflake in white, even though I don't like colour knitting. However, once the sock was dry it ended up looking a lot better than I thought it would. I am finally back to working on the second sock after having a nasty cold for the last week. I hope I'll get the second sock done by Sunday.
Cedar Snowflakes
I have a photo of only one sock, but both are at the same point with only the feet to be added.
The red yarn is Knit Picks Palette, and the off-white is Knit Picks Bare Merino. I used 2.5 mm DPNs for all the single-colour knitting, and 2.75 mm for the snowflakes.
This was my first go around with two colours, and I loved it! I'd already been practising Continental knitting in preparation for holding a yarn in each hand, and I'm glad I did. Great fun! :)
I took this project away with me last week, but left the pattern behind, so I decided to use Cat Bordhi's Cedar template for the shaping at the heel. I thought it was a good opportunity to try something new.
The motif wasn't all plain sailing though. LOL. I won't bore you with it here, but further details can be found on my blog for anyone who's interested.
Thanks for the pattern. Anni! :)

December Snowflakes Done
Good Morning all, at least it is morning in my part of the world. I finished last night then and washed and blocked them so I could post this am. They were alot of fun to make and I have had many complaments on them, Thanks Anni. The yarns are from Anni, size 2 dpns. Now I need to go finish my other Christmas projects. Ha ha
All the socks are looking great! I love the colors you have choosen. I am amazed
Progress.
Hi. Catlady here, checking in. (Catlady2 at Ravelry).
Have done one sock as far as the heel beginnings, one repeat of the snowflake pattern. Using Sisu yarn, and 2.75 mm bamboo dpns. First time for me to use bamboo needles - I decided I loved them. Started out with a set of five, but lost one right away, so had to buy a second set. :) I *can* knit with four needles, but this pattern works so nice on the fives... Anyway, I decided to cast on for the second sock, so I have that one working into the second round of the chart. I'll get it caught up to the first sock, then carry on with the heels.
Haven't taken a picture yet - will do so soon. They're blue and white, btw... :)

It's snowing lol
I decided to go with 3 blocks of the pattern because it is just the right leg height.
I have used Sirdar's town and Country in Lichen and Brown stripe and I used a 30cm/2.5mm circ for the leg and 2 circs for the heel, gusset and toes.
I love this pattern, it has grown quicker than I expected...Thankyou Anni!

Snowflakes
Great name to keep us cool in the Australian summer! I will try and think winter as I knit them. I am trying an opal self striping yarn with white for the pattern so we will see how it goes. If a photo is forthcoming you will know it looks fine!
Love It!!
Love the December pattern! And I have a matching sweater pattern and yarn that has been sitting in my stash for a couple of years. Maybe this is the motivation I need to get it done! Won't I look cute in matching socks and sweater!? Ha!

December Snowflakes In Progress
Couldn't wait to start the December pattern. Once I got going I couldn't stop until I at least completed the snowflake pattern. I decided to only do one pattern of snowflakes vs two. I chose Dream In Color Smooshy for the main color which I had in my stash. It is in shades of deep blue which make the white of the snowflake really stand out.
