Can I cheat?

I wanted a challenge and Simply Love is providing it. LOL! I've never knitted socks from the toe up before. I've been frogging so much this week I'm sprouting lily-pads.

I need to take a class in this technique. I'd really like to learn how it's done and feel I need to be shown before the light-bulb moment will happen.

No time before Valentine's Day so - the cheating bit: can I do them from the rib down? I hope so 'cos I have the first one almost ready for the toe decreasing.

Anybody else doing it this way, remember to turn the heart around. :O)

I knitted my Simply Love socks from the rib down and I know others are too.

Try this article from Knitty.com Winter 02 issue. Maybe it will help you have that "light bulb" moment....http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter02/FEATtiptoptoes.html

Since I've knitted the others toe-up when they were written cuff down, you can certainly knit these cuff up. We can cancel each other out :o)

I agree with Not Just a Mom! But don't give up on toe up! I struggled a bit with my first ones too--mostly the cast on. Now, I don't do anything else. Cat Bordhi's newest book has great explanations of toe up stuff like short rows and wraps, casting on, and how to do it on two circular needles, which is, as far as I'm concerned, the only way to go.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. Barb - thanks for the site info!
One sock done - and it fits!
Its mate will be CO tomorrow.

Top down is fine. Lots of members do their socks from whichever way they want. Can't wait to see them.
