short rows don't get it

I have just restarted for about the 10th time! My short rows are a wadded up mess, So I am changing yarn and restarting using river sock directions no picture yet. Discovered I can't do much else besides knitting while trying to do short rows. Been to Maryland and Michigan this month 2,000 miles of driving. Got home (Buffalo,NY) yesturday after a long hot 2hr wait on Bridge from Canada. My 15 yr old grandson needs to learn to drive for next year! So along with that and not getting short rows I am way behind and this is my first KAL!
My new yarn is Austermann Step I got yesturday at Mary Maxim's retail store in Port Huron MI. It is very close to the MI/Canada Bridge that had only 20 min wait.

Oh no, I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time with the short rows. Is it the toe or heel you're stuck with? If it's the toe, use Turkish cast on instead or search the internet for alternative cast ons and tutorials. If it's the heel, use the gusset/heelflap instructions instead. Or abandon the socks and start the August socks when the pattern arrives instead. No short rows in sight for the August socks.

Sorry to hear they've been such trouble. My first time with short rows was a bit daunting, but I love them now....I use yarnovers instead of wraps, though. You might find that easier?

And you were quite close to my house! I live about 45 minutes from the Sarnia/Port Huron crossing (on the Canadian side). :-) Haven't been shopping in Port Huron, but will have to check it out!

anni It's the toe I think I ended up using the turkish. Funny thing I am used to top down i put cables on the sole for a few rows before duh I realized what I was doing
