I've never knit with a dark yarn like the one on the left and don't know if it is going to work out well with the pattern. I'm sure the one on the right would work though. Any suggestions?

They're gorgeous yarns. I'd be tempted with dark one as it looks like it's self striping. But I love the other one too which looks very similar to the one I swatched the larger size in.
