Starting and Stopping

Well, I finally started my socks yesterday and completed one repeat. I'll be frogging tonight and probably won't get a chance to start again until the weekend. Why am I going to frog? I was doing the Make one purlwise wrong! I was having a devil of a time working them and thought there just has to be an easier way. I was at work at the gym (with no internet access) when I started them, so I just plugged away figuring I'd look online for a tip as to how to do the MP easier when I got home. I went online and looked for tips as soon as I got home and realized I was doing it WRONG! Pooh.

Julie -

there are lots of different ways to do it, and many of them wind up looking the same when finished.

Does it look ok? Are you fine with it? Or does it change the pattern to something else that you don't like.

Frog if you need, but not simply because " you did it wrong"

I purposely did mine "wrong." I hate to purl through the back of the loop, so I picked up the bar between stitches the other direction and then purled through the front of the loop. This slight modification worked well and, in this case, doesn't affect the look of the finished project!

I did just like Danielle. There are so many different ways of doing this, so I agree with Holly- don't frog unless you don't like the looks of it!

I agree, don't frog unless you don't like hte look of it. There's bound to be different ways of doing it anyway. I purl iwth the yarn at the back (as is common in Norway) and it makes m1 purlwise a lot easier to do.

Julie - I do the MP like Danielle and I think it looks just fine. I also did the ssk, psso differently than most do. I just could not get the needle to go through the loops if I did it the right way. So I just slipped the two stitches at the same time as if to purl. It makes the detail a little flatter but the pattern is still there.

I agree with all the other comments, don't frog unless you don't like the way the socks looks. There are lots of variations on the pattern already. This is what makes your socks unique:-)

Thank you to everyone! I'm so glad I haven't yet frogged. When I have time to work on the socks again (probably over the weekend), I'll just continue on because it doesn't look bad; it's just awkward to do.
